SMSH Student Places Third in Poetry Contest

Principal Michael Kreamer presents a certificate to Benedicte Bamvik , a junior at St. Martinville Senior High, who placed 3rd in Poetry at the High School level in the Festival of Words Writing Contest. Winners were announced during an awards ceremony at the South St. Landry Parish Community Library on Nov. 3, at 5:30 p.m.

The Festival of Words is funded in part by a grant from the Southern Arts Federation in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts.  It is also supported by a Grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council as administered by the Acadiana Arts Council. 

The festival receives additional support from The Festival of Words Cultural Arts Collective & Frederick L’Ecole Des Arts.  Other sponsors include the Acadiana Writer’s Guild, the Acadiana Writing Project and Revolution Theory.
