's Letter
Dear host family,
I don't know who you are yet, but maybe we'll share a year together. So I will try to introduce myself as well as possible.
I think I am a kind, respectful and easy-going person. I like to laugh and make people laugh, but I also know how to be serious when is necessary. I am curious and I like to discover new things. I'm always ready to try an activity, visit a new place or just have a good time.
My family is very important to me. I live most of the time with my mother, Julie, who is AESH, it means that she takes care of students who have needs, and my father-in-law, Alban, who is a specialist teacher for autistic children. He is also a primary school principal. My parents are divorced and I go to my father, Thierry, every other week. He works in the gas. My mother-in-law, Cindy, works in mutual health insurance. I grew up with my sister, my half-brothers and sisters, and we are very close. At home, we like to spend time together, chat, watch a movie, play board games or share a pizza in front of the TV. I also like to be with my friends : we ride a bike, we go to the forest, bowling, we play board games (I love dungeons and dragons!) I've got very good friends. I know my oldest friend for 10 years! I’ve got a cat : Sushi, she is 19 !! I’m not afraid of animals.
I live in a village with 1100 citizens at 8 minutes to the city where I do all my activities : school, sport, theatre, shopping… During this year, I would like to be at the heart of the USA.
I do athletics, It allows me to decompress. I like sprinting, fast walking. I also do theatre. I love acting! One of my greatest passions is cinema. I love going to see movies. Later, I would like to work in the culture or the cinema. I also love reading : comics, detective novels, history books...
My parents taught me to be polite, to respect others and to help. I participate in the small tasks of the house. I set the table, clear it, vacuum or empty the dishwasher. Well... sometimes I forget to tidy up my room...
If I participate in this program, it isn’t only to learn English. I really want to discover another way of living. I would like to know your traditions, share your habits, go to an American high school, celebrate important events with you and live this year as a real member of your family, share good times and laugh!
I would also like to share a little of my culture, French specialties for example (I have to learn to cook a little!)
I know that it’s a big challenge but I’m ready! I will do my best to integrate into your family, respect your habits and participate in your daily life. I wish that afer we will keep in touch.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I really hope to have the chance to meet you. If you choose me, I promise to live this adventure 100 %, with the smile, a lot of curiosity... and a few words of French if you want!
See you soon, I hope.
Your future exchange student, Joan
