Ella
's Letter
Dear Host Family,
Hello !
I am very happy to introduce myself and tell you a little strange to write this letter knowing that somewhere in the United States, a family may be reading it and wondering if we could be a good match. I hope this letter will more about me and my personality.
I would describe myself as curious, independent and determined. when I really want something, I always try my best to make it happen. I care a lot about school and I like learning new things, especially when I can challenge myself. But school is not everything to me. I also love having fun, spending time with my friends, meeting new people and making good memories.
I have many hobbies and interests. music is very important to me. I play guitar and piano, and I love listening to music and discovering new artists. I also do jazz dance, which I really enjoy. Dancing is a way for me to express myself, have fun and forget about everything else for a while.
I am also a very creative person. I love fashion, sewing, crochet and making my own projects. I really enjoy having an idea and then hands.
i also love travelling and discovering new cultures. This is one of the reasons why I am so excited about doing an exchange year. I don't only want to tourist. I want to discover what everyday life is really like there : going to school, spending time with a family discovering American traditions, celebrating holidays, visiting new places and making new friends. I also really want to improve my English and become more confident when I speak it.
I know that living with a host family means learning to live in a new way. I am ready for that. I know that your rules, routines, food and traditions may be different from what I am used to. I will respect them and I will also be happy to help at home and take part in family life.
I would be very happy to discover your family just the way it is. If you have children or pets, I would be happy to spend time with them because I really like both. But having Childe or pets is not something I need in my host family. I am happy to adapt to your way of life. For me, the most important thing is ti feel comfortable together and become part of the family.
I would love to have a family that enjoys spending time together. It could be having dinner together, watching a movie, going somewhere talking about our day, travelling or simply doing something fun together. But I also understand that everyone needs some time for themselves, and I will respect that that too.
I would be happy to have brothers or sisters during my exchange year, but I would also be happy to live with a family without children. In any family, I would also love to discover your family traditions and share some of mine with you.
I know that an exchange year will not always be easy. there may be times when I make mistakes in English or when something feels difficult because it is new to e. But I think these moments are also part of the experience. I want to learn from them, become more independent and learn how to adapt.
Most of all, I hope that my host family will not see me only as an exchange student, but as a real part of the family. I want to share my culture with you, but I also really want to learn about yours. I would love to know your traditions, your favorite places, your family stories and all the little things that make your family special.
I am very grateful to have the chance to spend a year in the United States. It is a dream that means a lot to me, and I hope that one day I will look back at this letter and remember it as the beginning of an amazing adventure.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope that, if we become a host family and an exchange student, we will have an amazing year together, with lots of laughter, new experiences and great memories.
I can't wait to meet you !
warmly,
Your future exchange student
