Dear Host Family,
Thank you sooo much for being willing to participate in the exchange program and for accepting me to live with your family :)
I am from Germany and I am currently in 10th grade at a High School (Gymnasium) Even though I have to learn a lot for school, I really like to meet my friends after school.
I am a very open person when I know people better and I love doing things with other people. I really like going shopping and to the cinema and I also like to meet my friends just to hang out together. Of course, I also like doing things with my family. We like going to amusement parks together or going to the Christmas market in winter. My little brother is 12 years old and we get along really well. I also have a really good relationship with my parents. We also often meet my grandparents for having a barbecue or just to spend some time together.
One of my biggest wishes is to see as much of the world as possible and I am so so thankful that I have the opportunity to spend a year abroad and get to know a new culture.
I already did two one-week exchanges which were organized by my school. Last year I was in France for one week and this year I was in Spain for one week. I met so many new and nice people there and I could even improve my Spanish a little bit. These two experiences made me even more excited to do a year abroad.
My biggest hobby is dancing. I have been dancing since I was 5 years old and I love it. For two years now, my team and me also participate in competitions and we even won the German Vice Champion title. I would describe myself as a sporty person in general. I like playing volleyball with my friends and I love going swimming and snorkeling.
Besides sporty activities, I also like doing more relaxing things. I do my own gel nails and I really like baking. About 3 or 4 months ago, I also started teaching myself how to play the piano. I also really like spending time with my cat.
I am really looking forward to becoming part of a new culture and hopefully also sharing a little bit of my culture with you. For example, the Nikolaus Day or some typical German recipes. I am also really excited to improve my English and go to an American high school, make new friends there and watch some football games.
Thank you so so much for taking the time to read my letter.
I am really looking forward to becoming a part of your family and meeting you soon!!
Lots of love,
Meta
