's Letter

Dear host family, First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to you. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and thank you for opening your home to a foreign student. It is a very kind and generous gesture. I am really very happy and excited about spending an exchange year in the United States. Today, I am writing this letter to introduce myself and to explain to you why I want to live this adventure with you. To start, I am going to tell you a little bit about my personality. I am a kind, calm, and smiling person. I like meeting new people and learning new things. I am also a very curious and open-minded person. I adapt easily to new situations. I like when things are simple and clear. I am a positive person and I always try to see the bright side of things, even when there are more difficult times. In my everyday life, family is very important to me. At my home, we like to spend time together and talk. My parents taught me to be independent and responsible since I was little. At home, I naturally participate in daily life. I know how to do many simple things to help out. For example, I can set the table, clear after meals, do the dishes, tidy my room, and keep my things clean. I also know how to cook simple dishes. For me, living in a family means helping others. I want to do the same at your home so that everything is pleasant for everyone. Regarding my hobbies, I like doing many different things. During my free time, I like being outside and doing sports to stay in shape. I also like quieter activities like playing the guitar, listening to music, or watching movies and series. I also really like card games and times when we all talk together around a table. I do not need complicated things to be happy. In the United States, I am eager to discover new sports and try new activities with you. Going to live a school year in the United States has been a dream for me for several years. Of course, I want to go to the United States to improve my English and become fluent. It is very important for my studies and my future. But my main goal is bigger: I want to live like a real American. I do not want to be a tourist or a guest who stays in his room. I want to be a real member of your family. I want to share your daily life, eat your meals, celebrate your traditional holidays, and understand your lifestyle. On my side, I will be very happy to talk to you about my country, our food, and our habits. I know that going far away from home for a year is not always easy. There will maybe be times when I miss my family a bit or days when I will be tired of adapting my brain to another language. It is normal and I am ready for it. I know that to make this year successful, you have to be honest, kind, and communicate well. If I have a problem or a question, I will come talk to you simply and with respect. You can always count on me to be polite, smiling, and listening. I am also very eager to go to an American high school. We often see American high schools in movies, with sports, clubs, and school spirit. I am eager to see how it happens in real life, to make new friends, and to take part in school activities. To finish, I want to say a big thank you to you once again. Thank you for offering this incredible opportunity to a young person like me. I hope this letter helps you know me better and makes you want to host me. I am really looking forward to meeting you, getting to know you, and sharing a great year with you. See you very soon, Quentin
