's Letter

Dear Host Family, Hello! My name is Florencia, and I am very excited about the opportunity to become part of your family and experience this new adventure. Ever since I was little, I have been fascinated by the United States. I grew up watching ''High School Musical'', dreaming of becoming a cheerleader, imagining what it would be like to celebrate Thanksgiving with a big family dinner or Halloween with costumes, pumpkins, and lots of candy, and admiring how magical Christmas celebrations seemed. In fact, Christmas is my favorite holiday, and I’m probably its biggest fan. Having the chance to experience these traditions in person fills me with excitement, curiosity, and a little bit of nervousness. I consider myself a sociable, cheerful, curious, and family-oriented person. I enjoy meeting new people because I believe everyone has something new to teach us. One of my biggest motivations for doing this exchange is meeting people and making new friends. I love spending quality time with the people I care about, whether it's sharing a meal, watching a good movie, or simply talking about our day. I currently live with my parents in Chilean Patagonia. Although my brother recently moved to another city to attend university, we remain a very close family. Family is one of the most important things in my life, and we love spending time together. On weekends, we usually have barbecues while my brother goes fishing, play board games, drink mate, or travel together by car or plane. Traveling is one of our greatest passions because we love discovering new places, trying different foods, and creating unforgettable memories. My father owns an internet and security camera company, and my mother works alongside him as the public relations manager. Watching them work together has given me a great admiration for them and has taught me the importance of hard work, commitment, and supporting one another. Living in Patagonia has taught me how to adapt to different situations. Winters here are very cold and snowy, with temperatures sometimes dropping to -20°C (-4°F). Whenever it snows, it's a family tradition to have snowball fights and build snowmen. Those are some of my favorite childhood memories. When it comes to sports, I enjoy several different activities. Horse jumping is the sport I have practiced the longest, and it holds a very special place in my heart. I currently play volleyball, but I also enjoy running and going for walks. I would also like to mention my love for animals, especially dogs. I have two dogs who are a very important part of my family. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching movies—especially romance and fantasy—listening to music (lately I've been obsessed with Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift), and spending time with the people I love. My favorite series is ''Harry Potter''. I'm also a huge Formula 1 fan, and my favorite drivers are Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri. I love learning about different cultures and ways of life, and that's one of the reasons why I'm so excited about this exchange experience. I also love cooking, especially baking desserts. I would love to share some traditional Chilean foods with you, such as sopaipillas, pastel de choclo, and leche asada. I also enjoy taking care of myself by straightening my hair, doing my makeup, painting my nails, and following a skincare routine. My favorite colors are blue and pink, and I absolutely love coffee and chocolate you'll never see me turn either of them down! At school, I am a responsible and dedicated student. In the future, I would like to study Business Administration or Business Management because I am very interested in the business world. I believe this exchange experience will help me grow both personally and academically while also making me more independent and open-minded. I am truly excited about the possibility of becoming part of your family, sharing my culture and traditions with you, learning about yours, and creating unforgettable memories together. I hope to build a special connection with you, improve my English, and make the most of this incredible opportunity. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I hope we have the chance to meet soon! With love, Florencia
