's Letter

Dear Host Family, Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home and giving me this opportunity to have such an amazing experience. I’m a Chilean girl writing this letter while I’m in my first year of high school, but by the time I’m with you, I’ll already have completed half of my second year. I really like trying new experiences that take me out of my comfort zone, and I can’t wait to experience the American way of life. My favorite hobbies are going out with my friends, reading, and painting, and I’m always open to trying new things. I’m a very organized and hardworking person, but I’m also sociable and outgoing. I’ve never found English class difficult, but I know it’s completely different to live in a country where everyone speaks English. That’s why I’m really looking forward to improving my English during this exchange. I’m not completely sure which activities will be available during my exchange, but from what I’ve heard, I’m really interested in trying cheerleading and going to a football game because we don’t have those experiences in my country. Here in Chile, I have a lot of friends, and I love spending time with them. We usually go to each other’s houses, go to the movies, or go out to eat together. There aren’t many things to do where I live, but we always have a great time together. I also really enjoy going to school because I get along very well with my classmates, and we always have funny moments in class. I’m very close to my family, and I love spending time with them. I always talk to my mom and tell her everything that’s going on in my life, and we love going shopping together. I also go skiing with my dad, and it’s one of my favorite things to do every year. I have a great relationship with my sister because she’s only two years older than me. We always talk about what’s happening at school and tell each other everything. I’m also very close to my grandparents, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and I always enjoy spending time with them. At the moment, I’m not really sure what career I want to study, but I really enjoy math, so I’m thinking about something related to it. More than anything, I hope to find a career that makes me happy and allows me to have a comfortable life and support myself in the future. About a year ago, I started becoming really interested in doing an exchange because I saw many of my friends going abroad. Listening to their experiences made me realize how much you can grow by living in another country, learning about a new culture, and meeting new people. Since then, it’s been one of my biggest goals, and I’m so excited that I’ll finally have the chance to live this experience. Thank you again for opening your home to me. I’m really excited to meet you, learn about your family and your traditions, share my culture with you, and become part of your daily life. I hope we can make lots of amazing memories together, and I can’t wait to meet you soon! Best wishes, Sara
