Aurelia
's Letter
Dear Future Host Family,
First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I really appreciate it, and I am already incredibly grateful that you are considering welcoming me into your family for 10 months.
My name is Aurelia, and I am from Germany. I live with my mom, my dad, my brother, and our unbelievably cute dog. Next year I will be in 10th grade at a German high school.
My favorite subjects are Math, Biology, and Music. I enjoy Math because I like solving problems and thinking logically. Biology is fascinating to me because I love learning about the human body. One day I would like to become a doctor, so I especially enjoy topics like anatomy. I also love music and play the flute. Making music brings me a lot of joy, and I enjoy learning about different styles of music.
When I am not at school, I spend a lot of time doing sports. Volleyball is my biggest passion. I have been playing since I was five years old and absolutely love being part of a team. I not only train once a week, but I also help coach younger children, which is something I really enjoy.
I also play tennis and love the challenge of working toward my goals on my own. In addition, I have been riding horses since I was three years old. Horses and animals have always been very important to me, and I love spending time with them.
Another hobby of mine is playing the flute. Music is a big part of my life, and I especially enjoy playing songs that I already know and love.
Besides my hobbies, I also enjoy singing, even though I am honestly not very good at it! I think the most important thing is having fun. I also love trying new recipes and baking. I would be very happy to bake or cook some German food for you and share a little bit of my culture.
I do not want to make any demands, but I would be very happy if I could continue playing volleyball in the United States. If that is not possible, that is completely okay. I am already very thankful for the opportunity to be part of your family.
I would describe myself as a kind, helpful, organized, and sporty person. When I first meet new people, I can be a little shy and quiet, but once I feel comfortable, I become very open and cheerful. I enjoy spending time with others, laughing together, and making new memories.
One thing about me is that I tend to think a lot about things. My best friend always tells me that I overthink everything! Sometimes I worry too much about small things, but I think nobody is perfect, and our strengths and weaknesses are what make us unique.
I have a very close relationship with my family. We love spending time together, whether we are playing games, watching movies, playing sports in the garden, or walking our dog. We also travel a lot around Europe, and I am very thankful that my parents have shown me so many beautiful places.
I do not have a huge group of friends, but I have a few very close friends who mean a lot to me. My best friend and I support each other in everything, and I am grateful to have people in my life who I can always count on.
At home, I help with household chores like unloading the dishwasher, vacuuming, setting the table, and helping with cooking. Of course, I would also be happy to help your family around the house.
I decided to do an exchange year because I want to experience a new culture, improve my English, and grow as a person. I am excited to learn about everyday life in the United States, attend an American high school, and become part of a new family. I hope to make unforgettable memories and build relationships that will last a lifetime.
Thank you so much for reading my letter. I cannot wait to get to know you and hopefully become a part of your family. I am looking forward to sharing this amazing adventure with you!
Warm regards,
Aurelia
