Dear future Host Family,
My name is Flora, and I am so excited about the prospect of spending a year in the USA!
I would describe myself as an outgoing, open-minded, and empathetic person with a good sense of humor. I love meeting new people and discovering new things. I also have a big heart for animals: I have a dog that I take full care of, which includes feeding him, taking him on long walks, and everything in between.
In my free time, I love being outdoors and spending quality time with my family and friends. A big part of my life is horseback riding; I mainly practice dressage, but I also enjoy show jumping. On Sundays, you can usually find me at golf competitions. It’s not just a great sport, but also a wonderful way to connect with new people. My friends would probably tell you that I’m the peacemaker of our group, as I always try to prevent disputes and keep everyone happy.
My family and I love to travel. Ever since I was a baby, I’ve visited many different countries, including Scotland, England, Switzerland, France, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, and Denmark. So far, my favorite country is England. This year, my dream is coming true because we are going to visit the USA—New York and Chicago, but mainly the western states. I’m super excited about this and I'm counting down the days. For the past four years, I’ve also spent a week of my summer holidays at a pony farm without my parents. I really enjoy vacationing without them because I don’t have to walk for eight hours a day through a giant city. Generally speaking, I’m more of a countryside girl. There is a field right in front of my house, so I grew up in the countryside.
I love listening to music, especially English pop or some rock, though sometimes German classics are great too. When I’m in the mood, I also like to paint while listening to music. Other times, I just enjoy relaxing in bed and watching movies or series. On weekends, when my brother has the time, he comes over so we can watch a movie and have breakfast together. Our parents aren't huge fans of this, but it has become our little ritual. Normally, my parents are very cool—a little strict, but that’s only because they want me to live a worry-free life and they try to make everything possible for me. Whenever we are on holiday, we always go for a long family walk with my dog, including my brother, my parents, and me. I wasn’t a big fan of this when I was younger, but nowadays, I truly enjoy those walks.
But what is always important is the school. My parents say without a good degree you don't have it easy later and they are also right that if I have learned one thing, it is that I should always listen to my parents.
After school, I usually do my homework and take my dog for a walk. While my mother typically prepares our meals, I love to step into the kitchen and cook for the whole family whenever I have the time. If you asked me what I could eat every single day, my answer would definitely be steak, burgers, or noodles!
I am really looking forward to getting to know you and becoming a part of your everyday life.
Warm regards,
Flora
