Dear Host Family, First of all thank you so much for opening your home to an exchange student. I really appreciate that you are willing to share your family life with me and I am already looking forward to meeting you. I hope that by the end of the exchange we will have created many wonderful memories together. My name is Sofie and I am from Germany. I am very excited about the opportunity to spend some time in the USA. I would describe myself as a respectful, friendly and open-minded person. I love laughing and spending time with other people. My friends are very important to me and I enjoy hanging out with them whenever I have free time. One of my biggest hobbies is dancing. I have been doing carnival dance sport also called Gardetanz since second grade. I started because of my friends and today it is one of the most important parts of my life. Every year I have several performances and one competition. It is not extremely competitive but I really enjoy dancing because it is so much fun. My dance team feels like a second family to me and I have made some of my best friends there.Besides dancing I also play volleyball. In my free time I like watching Formula 1 races and I am very interested in makeup, fashion and social media. I enjoy being creative and expressing myself through my style. I also like creating content and being in front of the camera. One of the main reasons I want to attend an American high school is because I have always loved the atmosphere and school spirit that you can see in movies and on social media. I know real life is different from what you see online but I would love to experience it for myself. I am excited to join school activities, make new friends and learn about American culture.I also love traveling. Four weeks ago I took part in a short exchange program in Japan. That experience showed me how exciting it is to discover a new culture, meet new people and step out of my comfort zone. After returning home I knew that I wanted to do a longer exchange program one day. That is why I am so excited about the chance to live with an American host family. In the future I am not completely sure what I want to do but I have a few dreams. I have only had a little experience with acting through a school drama club but I think acting is very interesting. If I ever had the chance I would love to become an actress. Another career I could imagine is working in social media as a content creator because I enjoy performing and being creative. No matter what I do I hope that my future job will allow me to travel to many different countries. I would love to become a part of your family. I am always willing to learn new things, respect house rules and try new experiences. I am also looking forward to celebrating holidays, trying new food and learning about your traditions. I have one question for you: What is your favorite family tradition? And what do you enjoy doing together as a family after school or on? Thank you again for giving me this amazing opportunity. I cannot wait to meet you and learn more about your family. I hope we will have an unforgettable half year together! Best wishes, Sofie
