's Letter

Dear Future Host Family, First of all, I wanna say thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider welcoming me into your family. My name is Amy and I’m from Germany. Here I live with my parents and my sister in a little town near a bigger city. We have a few chickens, guinea pigs and a dog, which I love playing or cuddling with. I’m really close with my family. I have a little sister, who is 11 years old. We do things like riding around on our bikes or making jokes and laugh about it for a long time. I’m also close with my dad through the sport, which I’m going to explain later and my mum who I can talk about everything with. All my grandparents are also important to me. They drive me to training, they often give me advice and they always have some ice cream for me and my sister. My parents have also friends that have children who feel like family. I grew up with these children. We often went to vacation together, played games and sometimes I had to watch out for them, because I’m older than them. One of my hobbies is playing handball in a club. I play it since I‘m ten years old and I fell in love with the sport. Training is always fun, because I have the funniest teammates, who always do things that make me laugh to much. I also like playing volleyball, basketball and badminton with my friends. I like being active, but I also enjoy quiet moments at home. My dad and me are big sport fans. We often watch soccer, basketball or handball games on TV or we even go to the stadium. Our favorite soccer club is in the 2nd German league and named 1. FC Kaiserslautern. It’s in the southwest in Germany, far away, so that we are not often there. Shopping, baking cakes, listening to music, doing my nails or watching movies are also things I do in my free time. My favorite movies are 10 things I hate about you, all the marvel movies and the hunger games. I like being around my family and my friends to share good moments. If you would ask my friends how to describe me they would probably say that I’m a funny, open and honest person. I like to try new things and I’m always open to changes. I love talking, which is one of my strengths. I can communicate very well and like to give lectures in school. School is probably my favorite part of the day. I love the breaks where I can exchange news with my friends and I also like the feeling when I survived another math class. My favorite flower is the lily, because when I see her, she looks like summer and that’s one oft the best times in the year. I also would say that I like summer the most. Don’t get me wrong, I like the whole year and all of the seasons, I just like how it stays light in the evening for so long. I think a thing where you learn something about a person is knowing there favorite festival. Mine is Christmas. I love the smell of cinnamon, the joy that everyone carries around within them during this time and how you can see members of the family that you can’t see that often. If you read til here you’d maybe ask yourself: Why does she want to go to the US for a so long time? Since I’m a child I always dreamed about America. About the big country where everything is possible. I know that it’s not that easy like it sounds, but I’m so exited to learn something about the American way of life and to meet new people. I’m looking forward to celebrate American festivals, to watch American football and to try new things, like a new sport or food that I never ate before. What I’m also looking forward to is maybe showing you a few things about German culture, like what Dishes we eat, what music we hear or how we celebrate festivals. America is more than just a country for me, it’s my dream. And maybe you are those who pick me up at the airport soon. Who knows. In love, Amy
