's Letter

Dear future host family, First of all. I would like to thank you for giving me the chance to introduce myself and for opening your home and life with a student from another country. My name is Jennifer but most of the people call me Jenny and I live in a small city in western Germany. I am very excited about the opportunity to spent a year in the United States, to experience everyday life in an American family and to share my own culture with you. I live together with my mother und my twin sister. My parents are separated, and on some weekends I stay with my father, who lives in another city. Even though they are separated I have a very good relationship with both of them. With my mother I often talk about my day, school or future plan. Our favorite activity is going to the stadium together, because I support a football team called Bayer Leverkusen and we like watching the games live. My father and I always have a nice time together. We sometimes go out or stay at home and cook together. With my twin sister I spend most of the time, and we have lots of fun moments together. We can talk about everything, and she is like my best friend. Friendship is also very important for me. I don’t have a best friend, but I have a lot of friends with whom I really like to spend time to go outside with them or just talk and laugh together. One of the biggest part of my life is horseback riding. I started horseback riding when I was only six years old and since than than it has become my passion. Even if it’s not so easy, it’s my goal to keep going and continue doing the sport I love. For me it is not just a sport. I love being surrounded with animals and interact with them. I also love playing soccer but not on professional level, but simply because I enjoy it and I love teamwork. I would be very happy if I could continue playing soccer during my exchange year, maybe even join a school team, but I am also exited to try new sports and activities. Another thing that I love doing with my family is baking. I really like making cake and cookies. I would also love to show you some traditional German dishes. I also love travelling and discovering new places, and I am very interested in working abroad in the future. This is why I could imagine working as a flight attendant or in another international job in the future. My favorite part of the year is Christmas and holiday. I enjoy decorating the house and baking for Christmas. I am very excited to experience different traditions and festivals like Halloween, Christmas or Thanksgiving, and to celebrate them with you! If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am a very open and curious person. I believe to be a good friend, because I always put others at first and if they have problem they can always come to me and ask me for advice. Sometimes I can be a little introverted at first, especially when I meet new people, but I want to change that during my exchange year. But once I feel comfortable, I become very talkative and outgoing. I also love kids and animals! I had 2 cats at home! My goal is to become more confident how to adapt to new situations and to got to know many dillerent poople. I think living with you will help me a lot with that because I will be part of your everyday life and learn to take responsibility. I thank with all my heart everybody that took their time to read my letter. Thank you so much for opening your home to me and for giving me this opportunity. I can’t wait to meet you, start school, and create memories we will share forever. Best regards, Jennifer
