's Letter

Dear host family, Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I am a German girl who will have finished Year 10 by the time I start my exchange year. I like trying new things and love exploring the world. I would like to learn about American culture and the American Way of Life especially in your family. I love doing sports and spending time outside. I especially enjoy track and field and horse riding because I like challenging myself. I also go skiing with my family in winter. I would describe myself as an active, open-minded, helpful, ambitious, friendly person who loves adventure. I speak German and English, and I am learning Spanish at school. However, I hope to improve my English. I would like to continue with my hobbies and interests in the USA, but I realise that this might not be possible, so I am open to trying new things. My mum works part-time in an administrative role and my dad works in field sales. My younger brother is two years younger than me and is in Year 7. He is also very active and plays soccer. We are a close family and enjoy spending time together. I am also very close to my friends from school and sports clubs. We spend a lot of time together doing different activities. They are a really important part of my life, and I value them greatly. I’m looking forward to making new friends in the USA and forming close friendships there, too. I am excited about the opportunity to experience a new culture, as well as sharing my own culture and traditions with your family. For example, I could share German food traditions such as whole-grain bread and the famous Oktoberfest (a traditional folk festival). I want to spend my exchange year in the USA because, to me, the USA is the “key” to the world. It's a land of endless possibilities. I hope to experience all this with you as my host family. I am looking forward to having a great time and making lots of wonderful memories with you during my exchange, in high school and with friends and especially with your family. I am really excited to be a part of your family. Warm Regards, Louisa
