Dear Host Family,
I am very excited to live with you and experience American culture.
I am a Turkish girl living in Germany, and I am almost finished with the 10th grade. I am a very open-minded person and love to try new things. I am very grateful to have this opportunity to go abroad and learn about a whole new country.
I love mathematics and programming. I also enjoy speaking in English because I think it sounds very mysterious, which is a huge reason why I am so excited to live in the US and speak English every day. Other people would describe me as fun, creative, academic, open-minded, and a good listener. I like working with children, and I tutor Maths and English at my school. I am a good cook, and I also like to bake. I like gaming, and I dream of becoming a game developer when I grow up. I enjoy playing basketball and badminton, but I don’t play in a club. In my free time, I usually go out with my friends to eat or study.
My dad is a software developer and inspired me to also work in that field. My mother studied chemistry and manages the laboratory, she is also a huge inspiration for me to work hard and study. My brother is turning 23 in May and studies automotive engineering at a university. He is very successful, and I love spending time with him. I also have a dog who is a golden retriever. He mostly sleeps and eats, but he is very cute.
As I already said, I am very excited to learn about American culture, but I think an exchange program goes both ways, and I am happy to show you German and Turkish cultures. I speak both languages fluently, and we celebrate both German and Turkish festivals at home. The only downside is that most of my family lives in Turkey, so we usually don’t have big celebrations.
Best regards,
Özge
