Dear host family, my name is Johanna and I am 15 years old. Thank you for taking your time with reading my letter and I’m very excited to have the opportunity to stay with you. I’m looking forward to get to know you and become a part of your family for a while. But first, let me tell you a little about myself: I live with my parents in a big city. In my free time I enjoy listening to music, reading and I love doing sports like swimming, dancing and scuba diving. I really enjoy playing badminton and sometimes volleyball with my friends. We don’t really know the rules but it’s always fun. I also love spending time with my family. We don’t really go on trips together but I love our dinners together and when we watch TV and other activities. In addition I love to be with my friends. We often play Mario Kart on sleepovers and cook or bake together because we love baking. In summer we are often in parks or at a lake and after school we sometimes go shopping or in a café. I think one of my favorite place is my cousins house in an other city in Germany because I love my cousins and my aunt. We spent Christmas together since we’re little and it is always so much fun. As a little girl I loved this place because of it‘s garden but now I love it so much because I always have a good time. I addition I always see my grandma there because she lives in Greece, on an island, and she always spends Christmas in Germany with us. Do you have a favorite place? I would describe myself as open, kind, curious and happy and I am a fun-loving person so it can’t be boring with me. very interested in learning more about your culture and traditions. I am also very ambitious and I love to try out new things. This is also one of the reasons why I decided to do an exchange year. The other reason are my parents. They are my biggest supporters which makes me very happy. In my year abroad I would love to do a lot with you and it would be so cool to go on a little trip with you or to lake or cook a traditional American dish together. And if you have pets I would love to spend time with them too because I love animals. America has always fascinated me, and I would love to experience how it is to live in an American family and to attend a high school. I am very interested in learning more about your culture and traditions and also I want to improve my English.
