Dear future host family, I’m very excited about the opportunity of being a part of your family. My name is Nina and I’m a very calm person but sometimes I can be a just be dynamic sixteen year old girl. My parents are divorced and I live with my mom Nathalie (54) who is a very strong independent woman who raised me mostly alone , my sister (13) who is very energetic and social and my cat Umi (4, British short hair) who loves to wake you up at 3 am. My school is not really big and that means seeing the same faces in the halls lots of times. I love how sometimes you can tell bits of their personality by how they dress (I always think they are very cool). I’m currently in an artistic domain so lots of my classes are based on art but my favorite classes are audiovisual communication, photography and cinema. A typical day for me starts at 7 am, I always prepare myself with music in my headphones and sometimes I have to make my own lunch. By 8:00 I have to be out of the house since my classes start at 8:30. They always end at 3pm, after school I do a cinema activity (we learn about and make a short film) on Tuesdays and I have theater on Thursdays. In my spare time I listen to music (I’m a music lover and I listen to lots of different types of it as in pop, kpop, indie…) , draw and sometimes I make little comics for myself. I love thrifting so prepare yourself for lots of it! Another thing I love is dancing, I started when I was 6 and never stopped ever since as well as acting. I would describe myself as someone who loves her little space but also share it. My friends have a nickname for me that is ‘solecito’ which it would mean sunny in English, they say it’s because I’m a very joyful positive person and I’m always there for them. I’m a really curious person so expect lots of questions coming from me! I can sometimes use my phone too much but I’m currently working on it and getting positive results. I live in Barcelona which is a big city next to the sea, it’s very touristic. It has 1,73 millions of habitants. Since it’s a big city there are lots of things I can do because everything is close to my house or I just have to take the subway. There’s lots of Gaudi monument’s my favorite being the Sagrada Familia , both the outside and the inside are beautiful and I really love how he represented the 4 stations. In vacations I normally go to visit my aunt who lives in France and sometimes I visit my dad. I’ve visited lots of countries and I love to travel even if its hours by car, train or plane. In weekends I study or hang out with my friends. I want to go to study to the US not only to practice my English but also because I want to experience thanksgiving and Halloween being taken seriously (it’s one of my favorite holidays) , things that are normal for you that are not for me (shops like Walmart, crumble cookies...) or going to homecoming. I would love to see how the US is and I hope I could travel a bit to see different parts of it. I would love also to show u a bit of my culture (as in some traditions we have) and bring you the happiness that I have just by thinking about this exchange year. As an exchange student I really want to accomplish being a cheerleader, being in a play and making unforgettable memories.
