's Letter

Dear Host Family, My name is Iván, and I am incredibly excited about the opportunity to become part of your family. I am 14 years old and in a quiet town about 20 minutes from the center of Madrid. It is a wonderful place to grow up, with many people my age around me, and fortunately, my school is very close to my home. I am currently in secondary school, and although I take my studies seriously, I also believe it is important to enjoy every stage of life and learn from every experience. Family is the most important pillar of my life. My mother, Miriam, is an HR Director at an association that supports people with disabilities, and my father, Javier, is a police officer. From them, I have learned the value of responsibility, respect, and helping others. I share a very strong bond of trust and closeness with both of them, and we talk openly about everything. Although I am an only child, I am very lucky to belong to a large and close-knit extended family. I have a particularly special relationship with my maternal grandparents, who have had a great influence on my upbringing. They have taught me the importance of humility, kindness, and perseverance. I also spend a lot of time with my aunts, uncles, and cousins, and we always support each other. Our family traditions mean a lot to me. During the summer, we usually travel to Cádiz, in the south of Spain, a beautiful region known for its stunning beaches and sunsets. Every year, we gather there with relatives and friends, and those moments are truly unforgettable. We spend the days at the beach, play sports, laugh, and enjoy long dinners together. Whenever I can, I also love visiting my family’s village in the northern mountains of Guadalajara. It is a peaceful and special place where I reconnect with nature, disconnect from technology, and enjoy simple but meaningful moments with my cousins and friends. In the winter, we often travel to different European cities to watch football matches, as football is my greatest passion. For me, football is more than just a sport—it teaches teamwork, discipline, and dedication. In my daily life, I consider myself responsible, organized, and friendly. I am a dedicated student and always try to do my best academically. At the same time, sports are a very important part of my routine. I enjoy playing padel and, above all, football. I train regularly and love both playing matches and watching games. I also truly value the time I spend enjoying the outdoors with my father; it is an activity we share and that has strengthened our relationship. Through sports, I have learned how to handle both victories and defeats with maturity. Looking toward the future, I aspire to become an Air Traffic Controller because I am fascinated by aviation and everything related to airports and airplanes. I am very interested in learning about different cultures, languages, and ways of life, which is one of the reasons why I am so excited about this exchange experience. I believe that living with your family will help me grow not only academically, but also personally. I understand that adapting to a new environment may be challenging at first. However, I am open-minded, respectful, and eager to learn. I am ready to adapt to your family rules, routines, and traditions. I would love to share my culture with you, teach you about Spain, and learn as much as possible about your lifestyle. I hope to participate in your daily activities, celebrate holidays together, and create memories that we will cherish forever. Thank you very much for welcoming me into your home and giving me this wonderful opportunity. I am truly grateful and very excited to meet you. I am sure this experience will be unforgettable for all of us. Warm regards, Iván
