Hello, dear host family!
Thank you very much for your willingness to host me during my studies in the United States. This is very important and valuable to me, and I treat this opportunity with great respect and responsibility.
My name is Olesya, and I'm from Russia. I live in the heart of the Urals—a city where Europe meets Asia. I'm currently in ninth grade at a gymnasium. I've been studying English for nine years because I truly love the language and want to master it perfectly. I've participated in recitation competitions and English language olympiads and continue to study to further develop my skills. I see my future in English and understand that a good knowledge of the language opens up many opportunities and allows for freedom of communication abroad. To improve my level, I try to watch films and TV series in English. I've also been studying French for several years.
I love to travel—both with my family and in organized groups with my peers. For me, traveling offers new experiences and emotions, a chance to discover new cities and countries, and a better understanding of the world around me—it's so diverse. I'm interested not only in exploring the cities and natural landscapes of different countries, but also in observing how people live, their traditions, and their daily lives. Each city has its own unique atmosphere, and I enjoy experiencing it and remembering it. In Turkey, I was particularly struck by the beauty of Cappadocia, and in Ireland by the green landscapes, the Atlantic Ocean, and the clean air. Our Ural region is also rich in natural beauty—I was particularly impressed by the Chusovaya River with its picturesque cliffs, along which we traveled in an airboat.
In my free time, I love drawing: coming up with ideas, trying out different images, and learning to find the right proportions. When cosplay festivals are held in our city, I sometimes attend as a spectator, and sometimes I take part. I also enjoy participating in school plays—this experience has helped me learn to work in a team and feel more confident in new environments. I also take literature classes. I don't plan to take the exam in this subject, but I enjoy attending because the teacher explains the material in an engaging and understandable way, making literature come alive and engaging.
I love children and animals; I find it easy to connect with them. I strive to be responsible, neat, and attentive to the people around me. Recently, I had the opportunity to try my hand at tutoring. For two months, I helped a boy I knew with his English homework.
I grew up in a large, close-knit family: I have a mom, dad, an older sister, an older brother, and two dogs—one very big and silly, and the other small and very affectionate. My brother and sister are now adults and live separately, but we often communicate and remain very close.
I see my trip to the United States as an important step in my education and personal development. I am very interested in learning about American culture, traditions, and everyday life. Living with a host family is especially important to me because it helps me feel at home and better understand the country from the inside.
For my part, I will strive to be a reliable and attentive guest, respect your family's rules and traditions, and be happy to help with everyday chores. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to be part of your family for this time.
With warmth and gratitude,
Olesya
