Dear Host Family, Hello! My name is Yara. I’m really happy and excited to write this letter to you. Thank you so much for taking your time to read it and for giving me a chance to be a part of your family. I am currently a high school student. I enjoy learning languages, especially English and Chinese, because I feel like languages can connect people from different cultures. Even though I’m still improving, I really try my best to practice every day, whether it’s listening, speaking, or watching movies and series in English. In my free time, I like listening to music, watching movies or series, and sometimes just spending time quietly by myself. I’m the type of person who enjoys having my own space to think, but at the same time, I also like spending time with people I feel comfortable with. I usually seem quiet at first when I meet new people, but once I get to know them, I become more talkative and friendly. I also try to take care of myself by doing some light exercise, like simple workouts at home. It helps me feel more relaxed and balanced. I’m not a very sporty person, but I enjoy activities that make me feel calm and comfortable. At home, my family has a small business, and I sometimes help when I can. This has taught me to be responsible and understand how to live with others. I also learned how to adjust myself in different situations and be more patient. I have a few close friends, and we usually spend time together at school. Even though I don’t talk a lot with everyone, I value meaningful friendships. I think I’m a good listener, and I try to understand other people’s feelings. Living with a host family will be a completely new experience for me, and I feel both excited and a little nervous. I want to learn more about your culture, your daily life, and how things are different from my country. At the same time, I would also be happy to share my culture with you, like food, small traditions, or simple things from my daily life. I believe I am someone who is respectful, polite, and easy to live with. I will try my best to follow your house rules and help with small things if needed. Even though I may be shy at the beginning, I truly want to build a good relationship with you and become a part of your family during my stay. Another small thing about me is that I like animals. I have three cats at home, and they are very important to me. Taking care of them makes me feel happy and relaxed. If your family has pets, I would be really glad to spend time with them too. This exchange program is very important to me because I want to grow as a person, become more independent, and learn how to adapt to a new environment.
