's Letter

Hey American Family! I hope you are all doing great! It is honestly fascinating to have the opportunity to write this letter, because it allows me to share a part of my life with you, even though I feel that no letter is enough to fully show who I am. Still, I will do my best to open my heart and let you get to know me. My name is Pedro, I have just turned 17 years old, and I’m very excited about the possibility of going on an exchange to the United States. One of the most important things I would like you to know about me is that soccer is a big part of my life. It is not only my favorite sport, but also my passion and something that truly makes me happy. Over the years, soccer has helped me grow as a person, teaching me discipline, commitment, how to work for my goals and that nothing in this life will come easily. I have taken soccer seriously for a long time. I spent a period playing in the youth divisions of Universidad de Chile, and I also had the opportunity to try out for clubs in Argentina, such as Defensa y Justicia, where I was offered the chance to stay, and Argentinos Juniors, a club known for developing great players like Maradona. Last year I also had the opportunity to play a tournament with my academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil! These experiences helped me realize that my commitment to soccer is real and that I want to keep pushing myself to grow and compete at the highest level possible. Today, I continue playing in different teams, my school, an academy, a junior team, and a neighborhood team with my friends. I simply love being on the field. Looking into the future, one of my biggest goals is to become a student-athlete and earn a scholarship to study and play soccer in the United States. That is why I see this exchange as much more than just a trip, I see it as a possible trampoline towards my dreams. I want to experience what it is like to live, study, and play soccer far from home, and understand if this path is truly the right one for me. During my time there, I would truly love to play as much soccer as possible, whether it is for a school team or a local academy, while also giving my best in my studies. I want to grow both physically and mentally, and challenge myself in every way, while also being responsible as part of a family. If the opportunity comes, if God allows it and my talent gives me the chance, I would love by the end of this exchange, to have the opportunity to stay playing soccer in the U.S, either for a school or a pro-club. What motivates me to pursue this dream and never give up is the unconditional support my parents have given me from the beginning. Beyond soccer, I am deeply excited about living the American life. I want to learn from your culture, your traditions, and your daily routines, explore new places, and create unforgettable memories. I am also really looking forward to making new friends and building meaningful relationships. I consider myself a very family-oriented person. I am respectful, organized, and I truly enjoy being part of a home. In Chile, I love spending time with my parents and my brother. For me, simple moments like having dinner together, talking and laughing are some of the most valuable parts of my day, and I would love to share that with you. I am also very sociable and easygoing. I enjoy talking, sharing, and making people feel comfortable. I love making people smile and bringing good energy. I consider myself a happy person, full of gratitude. I am also a believer, and I stay close to God in my own way. I enjoy staying active, going to the gym, taking care of my health, and spending time with friends and family. I also have three dogs, so I’m very used to being around pets. At home, I am used to helping and taking responsibility. I take care of my space and do chores like cleaning my room, making my bed, and washing dishes. In school, I consider myself a responsible and committed student. I do well academically, have a good relationship with my teachers, and enjoy being part of a community. I have been a scout, won an art competition, was the treasurer of the student council, and I am currently the third captain of my school soccer team. I would like to share with you a bit about my future goals! I would like to study Business Administration or Engineering, continue growing academically, and eventually build my own business. More than success, I want to become a good person, a great man, an incredible friend, father, son, and give back to the world for the life I’ve been blessed with. I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I would love to share my culture and learn from yours, experience new things, and fully live this exchange! More than anything, I want to arrive with a good energy, respect, and the intention of becoming part of your family. I hope laughter and beautiful moments will always be with us! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I truly hope to meet you soon. Regards, Pedro.
