Dear host family,
My name is L., I am 17 years old and I live in a small town in Italy with my parents, L. and G., and my older brother N. Ever since I discovered that I would have the opportunity to spend time abroad, I began imagining what my life might look like in a new country: new habits, a new school, and above all a new family willing to welcome me. I feel a mix of excitement, curiosity and gratitude, because I know this experience is much more than a trip—it is a real journey of personal growth.
If I had to describe myself, I would say that I am lively, respectful, loyal and very sunny. I enjoy creating a positive atmosphere and I try to bring a smile even on difficult days. I am dedicated to schoolwork, and receiving good grades motivates me to keep improving. I am curious, open to meeting new people and trying new routines, and I adapt easily to different contexts—something I believe will help me during my time with you.
My family plays an essential role in my life. We have an open, trusting relationship, and we support each other every day. My brother, who is three years older, works with my father, and we also have two dogs, aged 3 and 11, who are part of our family. I grew up in a warm and caring environment, and I hope to bring some of that warmth into your home as well.
I am currently in my third year of high school. I enjoy studying, especially subjects that allow me to reason, challenge myself and improve. One of the things that excites me most about this exchange is the chance to discover a new school system, different subjects and another way of living school life.
In my free time, I love spending time with friends—going out, talking or simply being together. During the week, however, I prefer spending my evenings with my family, because sharing those quiet moments is important to me. When I need to clear my mind, I enjoy running, as it makes me feel lighter and more balanced.
My daily routine is simple and organized: I wake up early for school, spend the morning in class, and in the afternoon I relax briefly before doing homework. I try to go outside or run whenever I can. Evenings are my favorite moment: my family and I sit together, talk about our day and enjoy some peaceful time. After dinner I usually read, listen to music or get ready for the next day.
What motivates me most to begin this adventure is the desire to step out of my routine, discover a new culture, live new experiences and grow as a person. I know there will be both happy and challenging moments, but I am ready to face them with enthusiasm and maturity.
I thank you in advance for welcoming me into your home and for giving me this opportunity. I truly hope to build a sincere and special relationship with you, just like the one I have with my family in Italy. I can’t wait to meet you, learn from you and share an experience that I know will stay in my heart forever.
With affection,
L.
