Dear host family,
My name is Eloi, I'm 15 years old and I live in France. I'm a cheerful, sociable person who loves discovering new things. I can be funny but also serious when necessary, and I adapt quite quickly to new environments, although it does take a little time to adjust ;) I'm also extremely close to my friends and my parents (and my two cats too!). I love hanging out in town with my friends to walk around, shop, eat, etc. I have just as many female friends as male friends. I enjoy both summer and winter. I love playing sports; I played volleyball in clubs for two years, I also played golf when I was younger, and I do some strength training at home. I also like going to the ice rink and the skatepark to ride a freestyle scooter. My parents and I often go to the mountains in the winter to ski and snowboard, and in the summer l also like to enjoy the sea. I also like having time alone to practice the piano, draw, watch TV series, and play video games.
My family consists of my parents and my two cats (Choupette and Malo). I also have a grandmother, a maternal grandfather whom I see regularly, and my cousins. My father works in the aeronautics industry, and my mother works in the hospital pharmacy. My parents are very close to friends they've known for a long time, and who are like family to me. At home, my father cooks the savory dishes, and my mother cooks the sweet ones. I often eat vegetarian meals because my father is vegetarian, but I eat everything. I also have to follow certain rules, like emptying the dishwasher, cleaning the table after meals, and going to sleep without my phone. In the morning, I take the bus to school by myself, I eat in the cafeteria, and in the evening, when I get home, I shower, do my homework, and relax in my room. My school hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. On Saturdays I often go to town with my friends, in the evening | chill at home and on Sundays I do my homework.
Since childhood, I've dreamed of traveling the world and visiting as many countries as possible. Thanks to social media, I discovered it was possible to live abroad while studying. I've been nurturing this project for three years. The United States is my dream destination, and this program will allow me to live like any other American student. Living with a host family will immerse me in the heart of American life and culture. I'm confident I can bring my positivity and kindness, and I hope to share and exchange ideas with my host family about cultural differences, which will contribute to my personal growth and broaden my horizons. I'm eager to experience American high schools, which are very different from French high schools, with their wide variety of subjects, different sports, and the major events that mark the life of an American high school student.
Thank you for reading. Thanks to people like you, I'll be able to realize my dream. I can't wait to get to know you, and I thank you warmly for welcoming me into your family.
Eloi.
