Ami
's Letter
Dear Host family,
Hello. My name is Ami. Thank you very much for reading my letter. I have a bright and open-minded personality, and I love chatting with people and going out to have fun.
There are two things I would like to do in America. First, I would like to enjoy my favorite American music and movies with you and share my thoughts and opinions. I usually do them, but many of my friends don't do those things. So, I am sad that we cannot exchange opinions. When I visited America on a school trip, I had the opportunity to talk with local people about music and movies, and it was very interesting. That is why I would love to talk about music and movies with my host family.
Second, I would like to fully enjoy the annual holidays. In Japan, we have events like Christmas and Halloween, but there are not many opportunities to celebrate them in a big way with family or the community. Therefore, I would like to experience these holidays in an American way.
I also regularly help with the house. For example, I wash dishes, go grocery shopping, and clean the bathroom. I would be happy to help with household chores in the U.S. and contribute as a member of your family.
Next, I would like to tell you about my daily life. I go to school from Monday to Saturday and commute by train. I have cheerleading practice three days a week. I go to school at 8 a.m. and come home around 6 p.m. During breaks, I enjoy spending time with my friends, such as chatting and relaxing outside. On weekends, I sometimes relax at home, and other times I go shopping or to Karaoke with my friends. Karaoke is especially popular in Japan, and I go about once a month.
The reason I want to join this program and attend an American high school is to improve my English skills and learn about different cultures. I am interested in the positive aspects and ways of thinking in America that are different from those in Japan. I would like to learn about them through living in the United States.
In the future, I would like to study international relations. I plan to go to university and use this study abroad experience to deepen my learning. I also hope to have a job where I can use English in the future.
Next, I would like to introduce my family. My family consists of my parents, my older brother, and me, and we also have one dog. We are very close, and we enjoy going out to eat and shopping together.
Finally, I am truly grateful for this valuable opportunity and for welcoming me into your home. I am very excited to meet you and become a member of your family.
Best regards,
Ami
