Dear Host Family,
I don't know you yet, but I want to start by thanking you for opening the doors of your home and your life to me. That means a lot, and I can't wait to meet you all.
My name is Eliott, and I'm a French high school student from the north of France. My parents are both teachers, and I have a younger brother at home. I also have a great group of friends — most of them live in my neighbourhood and I've known them since primary school. I know it's going to be tough not seeing them for a year, but I also know they'll be right there when I get back!
I would describe myself as an energetic, sociable and curious person. I love talking to people and discovering new things, so I think living with an American family is going to be an amazing experience for me. I'm also very sporty and competitive — I've tried many different sports over the years, including table tennis and field hockey. Right now, I play tennis several times a week, and in my free time I enjoy going for runs and playing basketball on the court just in front of my house.
I also love being outdoors. As a family, we love staying active and going hiking. When I was younger, we went on an unforgettable three-day hiking trip in the south of France — with a donkey carrying our bags! It was memorable ! More recently, during our trip to Wales last summer, we explored Snowdonia National Park, which was absolutely stunning. I also love watching sport. I'm a big tennis fan, so Roland Garros is obviously one of my favourite events of the year. I'm also really into Formula 1 — my prediction for this season is that Mercedes looks strong, but my heart is with Ferrari, as always!
At school, I'm a good student with a strong interest in science. Maths and Physics are my favourite subjects. My plan after high school is to go through the French "classes préparatoires" and then study engineering. My dream job? Working as an engineer in Formula 1 — that would be the perfect combination of everything I love!
I enjoy travelling a lot. My family goes abroad regularly, and over the years I've visited Slovenia, Reunion island, Denmark, Italy and Portugal. Since my mum is an English teacher, we've also travelled to many English-speaking countries — I've been to England, Scotland Ireland and Wales. Coming to the USA feels like the next big adventure.
Living a full year in the US as a real American high school student is something I've been dreaming about. I want to improve my English, discover American culture from the inside, and make great memories. And since sport is such a big part of who I am, being in a school with strong sports teams and great facilities would honestly be a dream come true.
I can't wait to meet you and start this incredible experience together.
Eliott
