Trinidad
's Letter
Dear host family,
I truly appreciate the opportunity you give students like me to live and learn about a new culture. Thank you very much for being part of the program and for welcoming me into your home. I really hope to become part of your family.
My name is Trinidad, but everyone calls me Trini. I am 16 years old, I’m in tenth grade in high school, and I live in Santiago, Chile. I would describe myself as a friendly, kind, persevering, and curious person. I enjoy talking with others, although at first I can be a bit shy, and I really value the affection of my family and friends.
In my free time, I love reading and watching movies mostly of fantasy and romance, being in nature, spending time with animals, discovering new places, cooking (mostly sweet things), and spending time with my friends and family. I enjoy playing soccer and doing activities like water skiing and snow skiing, among other things. I also really love animals. I have two dogs, both White Swiss Shepherds, and I enjoy spending time with them.
Family is very important to me. In my immediate family there are my dad, my mom, my two younger siblings (a brother and a sister), and me. I spend a lot of time with them, and I truly value those moments, whether we are talking or doing activities together. One tradition we have is often watching movies together at night, all cuddled up.
One of the main reasons I want to go to the United States is to improve my English, but also to grow as a person. I am very interested in meeting new people, learning about different cultures, your traditions, and discovering new places. I believe that living with a host family is a unique opportunity to truly experience daily life in another country, and I would love to be part of your family, share my culture with you, and learn from yours.
Looking ahead, I am not completely sure what I want to study at university yet, but I know that I am very interested in science and mathematics. I am less interested in history, mainly because it involves a lot of memorization, which makes it harder for me to enjoy, although it might also be due to the way it is taught here. I am excited about exploring different areas and discovering what I am most passionate about in the future.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter and get to know me a little better. I am really excited about the possibility of meeting you and becoming part of your family.
A hug,
See you soon,
Trini
