Miguel
's Letter
Dear host family,
My name is Miguel and thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I really appreciate the opportunity to introduce myself and to be considered as part of your family. I am very excited about this experience and grateful for your kindness.
I come from a close and loving family. We are four people at home: my parents, my older brother, and me. We have a very good relationship and enjoy spending time together. We like talking, sharing meals, and doing activities as a family, especially playing board games like Catan and card games together at home.
I also enjoy going to my parents’ village very much. It is a small and quiet place where I can relax and enjoy nature. One of my favourite things to do there is spending time in my grandfather’s garden. I like helping in the vegetable garden, learning from him, and being outdoors. My family recently moved to a new home, and I really enjoy spending time there and helping little by little.
I have a great group of friends, and friendship is very important to me. We spend time together, support each other, and have fun. I think having good friends has helped me become more open, friendly, and confident.
At school, I am a responsible student. I try to do my homework every day and organize my time well. After school, I usually study and then spend some time doing sports or being active. My favourite subjects are English, Physical Education, and History. I like English because I enjoy learning languages, and I like Physical Education because I enjoy sports. When something is difficult, I try to improve and not give up.
Sport is an important part of my life, especially soccer. Playing soccer has taught me to work in a team, respect rules, and be responsible. It also helps me stay active and make friends. I also Iike being outdoors, laughing, and making other people laugh.
I also like travelling and discovering new cultures. I already had an international experience when I lived for six weeks in Ireland with a host family. During that time, I went to school, lived with the family every day, and shared their daily life. The family had children, and I really enjoyed being part of their routine, learning about their culture, and improving my English.
This experience helped me become more independent and confident. It also showed me how important communication, respect, and flexibility are when living with a new family.
I want to take part in this exchange program because I want to grow as a person and learn from a new culture. I am very interested in life in the United States and in the school system, which
I have heard is more practical and active. I believe this experience will help me improve my English and learn new ways of thinking.
I hope I can bring something positive to your family, your school, and your community. I will try to be respectful, helpful, and involved in daily family life. I would love to share my culture with you and also learn from yours.
Thank you very much for your generosity and for opening your home to a student like me. I truly appreciate this opportunity and hope to share a happy and meaningful experience with you.
Kind regards,
Miguel
