Hello, My name is Iu, I'm 15 years old and I am very excited to be able to introduce myself to you. Thinking that I might be able to live with a family in the United States for a while excites me very much, and so I want to tell you a little bit about who I really am. I’m a quiet guy. I really enjoy my time at home: I love playing video games, reading and spending hours imagining stories or discovering new things. That’s my comfortable world, where I feel safe. But I also like to hang out with my friends from time to time, go to the movies, laugh without stopping or share a burger while talking about anything. I am not the most extroverted of the group -I am a little shy at first- but when I get confidence, I like to relate and share moments. Since I was a child, I have heard stories about the United States. My aunts and also my father lived there an experience similar to the one I dream of living now. They always talk about the families who welcomed them with great affection, as if they were a second home on the other side of the world. They tell funny anecdotes, moments that made them grow, learn and see life differently. Every time I hear them, I feel like I want to write my own story too. I am a good student, although sometimes I find it hard to concentrate -I guess that’s part of being 15- but when something really matters to me, I try my hardest. And this experience is very important to me. I don’t just want to improve my English or get to know a new country; I want to grow as a person, learn how to adapt, live together, understand other customs and ways of seeing life. I think getting out of my environment, leaving my comfort zone and living with an American family would be a way to "wake up" to life. Awakening to new responsibilities, new friendships, new ways of thinking. I want to learn from you, help at home, share who I am and also discover who I can become. I am not perfect, but I am curious, respectful and eager to live this experience with an open heart. I would love to be part of your family for a few months, share your day-to-day and create memories that last forever. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself.
