Dear host family, If you are reading this letter, it's because you are thinking about hosting me as an exchange student, and I think you would like to know a little more about me. At first I want to thank you for opening the doors of your home to me and giving me the opportunity to live this very especial experience. My name is Emma and I am from Spain. I always wanted to do an exchange year in the USA. When I was younger my cousin went there to do an exchange year too. And it was that moment when I started being interested in that and I searched for information, watching videos and just then, I realized that I wanted to do the same. When I get there, I would like to get to know your culture, as well as some fast food restaurants like Raising Cane’s, Crumble cookies, etc. and going shopping to Walmart and Target too. I would also like going to soccer games, to Homecoming and Prom, making new friends, celebrating Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas there following all your traditions, and a lot of other things that could make me create unforgettable memories! Concerning myself, I am a fun girl, talkative, empathetic, affectionate, cheerful, detail-oriented, and I am also a demanding girl with myself, as I care a lot about my studies, (my favorite subjects at high school are Physical Education and Spanish). I also have many different hobbies. I have always liked sports and I used to play ‘Padel’ and went swimming, and I played basketball too, and in fact, I still play basketball and I like it a lot! When I get there I want to try new sports and activities such as cheerleading, volleyball, and more if is it possible. I would also like to point out that I am a very smug girl too, as I love fashion, going shopping, doing my nails and the makeup. I also like cooking, specially baking, I love sweet food. What I like the most are cookies. My family is always asking me to make cookies for them, and I love that. And, obviously, I can’t wait to make them for you! I am sure you’ll love it. If you want, I will be so grateful to cook and teach you how to do traditional food form Spain too, like ‘tortilla de patatas’ (potato omelette) or ‘croquetas’, and a lot more things. Furthermore, I like listening to music too. I normally listen to Catalan, Spanish and English songs and I like all of them equally. Another hobby I have is reading, I always liked reading and I have a shelf full of books in mi bedroom. I specially like reading romance books, my favorite books are all of the ‘The boys of tommen’ ones. I also like watching movies and shows, and I usually watch them with my mom, we both like love movies too. I love spending time with my family, as I have a huge family. My mom has 5 siblings and my dad has only one, but most of them have sons and daughters, who are my cousins. I only have 1 cousin who is younger than me and I love playing with him. With my mom, dad and my brother we like playing board games, going to the cinema, and we also like trying new restaurants, I sometimes cook with my mom or my brother too. And now that my brother has got the driving license, I love going wherever by car with him. About my friends, my best friend is called Ivet, she is one year older than me, and we met playing basketball. We love eating hamburgers and doing fun plans like spending the week at the beach in summer or going shopping together, (we also love that a lot), … About my friends at high school, I met all of them at Elementary School. I also have friends at my actual basketball team and at my English classes at the academy. We usually hang out, we go to the cinema, shopping and we normally have dinner together at a restaurant or at a house of one of us. And this is who I am and what I like doing and with who.
