's Letter
Dear host family,
My name is O. and I am already really looking forward to my stay in the USA. I am very curious about your culture, your daily life, and how things work inside a family that is different from mine. I believe that living with a host family is the best way to truly experience a new country.
I currently attend a high school with a focus on tourism. I study subjects related to languages, cultures, and the hospitality world, which I find very interesting. I chose this type of school because I like learning about different countries and people, and I’m curious about how tourism and communication work in an international context.
I live with my family, which includes my two parents, my older brother who is 19 years old, and our small dog. I have a good relationship with my family, and even if we are all different, we enjoy spending time together in everyday moments. Our dog is an important part of the family and brings a lot of joy into our home. I think it could be nice to have a host sibling around my age, especially at the beginning, to share everyday moments and have a small point of reference. At the same time, I’m open-minded and happy to adapt to any family situation.
I would describe myself as a friendly, funny, and playful person. I enjoy joking around with my friends and my family, teasing each other and laughing a lot together. I like being around people, talking, sharing moments, and creating a relaxed atmosphere. I’m someone who brings energy, but I also know when it’s important to be respectful.
I really enjoy spending time with my friends. I like going out with my friends and having fun and enjoying good music, but I also love very simple moments, like sitting together, chatting for hours, playing card games, walking around, or just being in good company. For me, it’s always about the people, not about what we are doing.
Music is a very important part of my life. It affects my mood a lot and helps me feel good. My favorite genre is reggaeton, because it always puts me in a good mood and gives me positive energy.
I also really enjoy the beauty world. I like doing my makeup and getting ready, especially together with my friends. We get ready together, listen to music, give each other advice, chat, and share a bit of gossip. I really enjoy these moments because they are fun, relaxed, and make me feel comfortable.
When it comes to language, I know that at the beginning I will need some time to feel fully confident in English. I may be a bit quieter at first while I get used to the language and improve it. However, once I feel comfortable, I become much more open and extroverted, just like I am in my own language.
I get along well with new people and I adapt easily to new environments. I am open-minded and curious, and I like understanding different ways of thinking and living.
I love animals very much. I like cats, but dogs are definitely my favorite. Being around them makes me happy and calm, and I really enjoy their presence.
A typical day for me includes school, listening to music, spending time with friends, and relaxing at home. I like having a balance between social moments and quieter time.
I hope that during my exchange year I can become part of your family, share everyday moments with you, and learn from your way of life. I am excited about this experience, to improve my English, and to discover a new culture. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I am really looking forward to getting to know you.
Sincerely,
O.
