Dear Host Family,
My name is Nicola and I am very excited to be part of your family during my exchange year. I come from a loving and supportive family in Poland, which includes my parents and our pets (two dogs, Fanta and Cola). I love dogs with all my heart, if it were possible I would take all the homeless and injured dogs into my home! At home, we enjoy cooking together, spending time outdoors, watching TV and sharing moments that bring us closer together. My family has taught me empathy, responsibility, and helping others, which I try to apply in every area of my life.
I am currently in high school and am interested in science, especially biology and chemistry (I'm expanding 3 subjects in high school - biology, chemistry and English). I have always been fascinated by medicine, and my dream is to become a doctor. In the future, I would like to open a private psychological and psychiatric clinic to support people in difficult moments of their lives. I believe that a thorough understanding of medical sciences is key to effectively helping others.
Outside of school, I am very active. I dance. When I started this sport three years ago, I didn't expect it to require so much strength, perseverance, and determination. It may seem simple, but the truth is, it's incredibly challenging. I'd love to tell you more or show you my skills in videos or photos! I would like to learn new American sports such as cheerleading. I was dreaming about it since I was a little girl! When I was younger, i did martial arts- karate and muay thai. I have developed defensive reflexes and I have a lot of strength in my hands, which helps me in dancing. Due to a serious knee injury, I had to stop training, and later it was difficult for me to come back and find the time for it again, although if I had the opportunity, I would gladly return to it.
I am very passionate about volunteering. When I decided to have my first dog, I decided to go for a few days to my parents' friends who ran a "dog shelter" - more precisely, it was a hotel where dogs that were found, rescued, temporarily abandoned, lost etc. I'm currently applying for a volunteer position at a medical clinic.
I consider myself a responsible, curious, empathetic, and determined person. I enjoy learning new things, and supporting others when needed. I believe I can bring a positive attitude, energy, and commitment to your family, school, and local community. I want to experience a new culture and show my own. I'd love to spend every free moment with you, talking, cooking together, playing board games, and exploring new places with you. I'd love to feel like part of the family, and I'll do everything in my power to get closer to you and nurture our relationship as best I can.
I chose USA because im in love in this country since always. I want to make new international friends, share experiences and culture. I believe that the program will allow me to broaden my horizons, become more independent, and contribute my experiences. I especially cant wait to see Halloween in the USA because I always was dreaming about it! In Poland, we don't really celebrate this holiday. Despite everything, I celebrate Christmas. We have Christmas Eve at home, decorate the tree, and buy each other gifts. I would love to experience Christmas in the USA. The cities and streets are so beautifully decorated, not to mention the interiors of the houses. Im so excited about the possibility of experiencing life in this country.
I can’t wait to step into this new chapter of my life with you — to share laughter, dreams, and everyday moments that will forever stay in my heart. Thank you for giving me the chance to find a second home on the other side of the world.
Best regards, I hope to see you soon,
Nicola
