's Letter

Dear host family First of all, I want to express my sincere greetings for accepting me in your family as a new member of it. And I look forward to meeting all of you. I'm a boy from Brazil and a 11nd grader at high school. It has always been my dream to gain the opportunity to live in another country, and having the chance to live a whole year in the USA is for sure very motivating. Learning more about your culture and costumes, such as sharing a bit of my culture too, is one of my biggest interests. I'm a very creative, respectful, fun, positive and disciplined person. I always try leading the situations to the best way possible, even with it's hard. As a athletic person, I like doing a lot of sports, such as taekwondo, running, volleyball, swimming. Tough, I'm not very into other ball sports, like soccer or basketball. I also recently started playing on keyboard, and I'm very into it because I love piano classic songs, my favourite been Moonlight Sonata, by Beethoven. One of my goals in the USA is trying some of your cultural sports, them being American football and Hockey. Since hockey is seasonal, I will understand not being able to practice the way I expect. Even so, I would like to practice at winter time. I have a favourite sport. It is a martial art called Taekwondo, which I've been practicing for more than 10 years. I'm a black belt, and I would be very happy to train there too. But I understand if I couldn't, cause is not every school that has martial arts as an available club. Here in Brazil, I have a lot of good friends, some of them since kindergarten. I don't go out in a lot of parties with them, but we hang out very frequently. Sometimes it is soccer, going to the beach, or simply going to the shopping mall. My parents here in Brazil are divorced, so sometimes I stay with my father as sometimes with my mother. In my mother's house, we got a pomeranian dog called "Pulga", which in english means Flea. And a britshort hair cat at my father's house, named Pandora. My father is a lawyer from a real estate company and is director of the same. He loves traveling around the world and playing beach tennis. My mom exerces the function of a lawyer too. She is a marathonist and loves to read books. I started running because of her. At school, I'm a good student. I always try to keep a good relationship with teachers, mainly the ones who teach hard subjects, like math or biology. My favourite subject is History, but I also like geography and biology. MY worst subject, like most people, is math. Although when I try I can actually go well. For me, one of the greatest things here in Brazil is our cultural food. We have groceries, like "brigadeiro", and savery's, like "Pão de queijo". I'm may not be the best cooker in the world, but since I really want to share my cultural food with my host family, I gonna learn how to make it so I could be able to give it to all. When I finish high school and it's finally time to choose an employment, I will probably choose architecture. Since I'm a very creative person, I guess I'm going to fit in very well at it. But i'm not sure yet. I can barely hold my excitement to finally meet my new family and create a lot of memorable experiences and moments together. Once again, i'm very thankful for you to choose me as a brand new member from your family. I promise to be very respectful, as well as being funny and kind. My sincere regards, Matheus
