's Letter
Dear Host Family,
Hi! My name is Ryo.
Thank you very much for volunteering to accept me into your family.
I truly appreciate this opportunity, and I am very excited to meet you.
While staying with you in the United States, I would love to enjoy daily life together, such as having meals, talking, and spending time as a family.
If you ever need help, I am always happy to help in any way I can.
Now, let me introduce myself.
I am a member of a marching band.
During the marching season, I am part of the color guard, so I do not play an instrument.
However, during the concert season, I play the flute.
If you have a favorite song, please feel free to ask me—I would be happy to play it for you.
I also love baseball.
If you like baseball too, I would be very excited to go to an MLB game with you if we have the chance.
In Japan, I spend a lot of time at band practice.
On my free days, I enjoy going out with my friends to cafés, downtown areas, or playing baseball.
My friends are very important to me, and I value the time I spend with them.
At school, I often take on leadership roles.
For example, I have been a band leader, a conductor at a choral festival, and a leader of the cultural festival executive committee.
Through these experiences, I have learned that being a leader means setting a clear goal, giving careful guidance, and working harder than anyone else.
I want to study abroad in the United States because of my future goal.
In the future, I hope to become a pilot.
To achieve this, I want to attend a leading aviation-related college, which is why studying in the U.S. is important to me.
I believe that strong English skills are essential, so I wanted to challenge myself by living in an English-only environment while still in high school.
Lastly, let me introduce my family.
I live with my father, mother, and older brother.
My father’s name is Masatoshi. He is a company executive and loves watching MLB games, which is one reason I became interested in baseball.
My mother’s name is Noriko. She is an elementary school teacher who teaches English, math, and science. She is very hardworking and inspires me a lot.
My older brother’s name is Hal. He is a video editor and is currently attending a well-known college. He enjoys video games and practiced karate for many years.
Once again, thank you very much for welcoming me into your home.
I am truly grateful for your kindness, and I am really looking forward to meeting you in person.
I hope we can share many wonderful experiences together.
Sincerely,
Ryo
