Dear future host family,
I am G, my name might be tricky at first, but once you get it, it’s as memorable as my laugh!
I’m incredibly excited about the chance to join your family, learn about your daily life and create memories that bring smiles. I describe myself as a cheerful, talkative and very outgoing person. I make friends easily as I enjoy spending time with others and socializing. I’m the kind of person who laughs a lot, sometimes at my own jokes, sometimes at my mistakes. I am also determined, ambitious and constantly looking for new experiences. A funny fact about me is that I like to memorize useless trivia (like first twenty numbers of pi) and share it at random moments. My friends say I am comforting and a great listener. Making people happy is a pleasure that makes me even happier.
I am in my third year at a scientific high school. There I have met wonderful people and I find most subjects interesting, especially biology and English. My classmates call me the “comic relief” of the class, and honestly, they are right. It’s a challenging school, but I like testing myself.
I dedicate my afternoon to study, but in my free time I spend time with friends or play the guitar, I am really into music. I maintain an active lifestyle: I practice artistic gymnastics twice per week. I started practicing this sport when I was a child, but recently I’ve discovered new interests such as sailing. I love water sports and the sea. My grandparents have a house in southern Italy, where we spend most of our summer, also because we live in a small town where the dogs have to wear jackets too! There we have fun doing various activities outdoors, such as camping and hiking. However I am always open to trying new sports and activities!
I start my day waking up at six to prepare for school and take the bus to school. I attend my classes then return home to share lunch with my parents. I dedicate my afternoon to study before relaxing. I have dinner with my family talking about literally everything, then we play board games or watch a movie before getting ready for bed, so I hope you love playing together!
I have a beautiful relationship with my parents, we communicate a lot and support each other (especially when it involves finishing unattended snacks). I am an only child, but I really enjoy being with kids. I have always wanted a pet, however my folks never made me feel bad about it, always doing many activities. They are both hard-working while having an active presence in my life and inspire me because they face challenges with optimism. My parents say I talk a lot, but I say I’m just giving them free entertainment! I also spend some time with my mom trying various recipes and learning cooking secrets.
Traveling stands as my absolute favorite activity among all others. I love discovering new locations, cultures and I always want to know more about the world. I joined in several study trips abroad that encouraged me to sign up for a longer program overseas. I consider myself lucky to have visited many places with my parents, who passed to me the spirit of adventure. I’m thankful that they understand the value that this experience has to me and support my desire to pursue it. I believe we should do the things we enjoy: money will come back, memories won't. That's why I am here to write this letter to you!
The main reason why I want to come to the USA is to improve my English through alternative learning methods. I aim to develop my independence and responsibility while achieving personal growth. I’d also love to watch football games, or at least try to understand how it works, do cheerleading and take the classic yellow school bus. I dream of going on one of those American road trips, discovering new places and celebrating your typical traditions! I am truly thrilled and grateful for this opportunity,
I can’t wait to meet you and create amazing memories together!
With love,
G.
