's Letter

Dear host family, I take the liberty of writing to you to introduce myself in more detail before my arrival in the United States, where I will have the immense chance to spend a school year with you. I am Léna, a 15 years old French girl, very grateful and enthusiastic about living this unique experience, which represents for me much more than just a stay abroad. First of all, I am a dynamic person and passionate about sports. Horseback riding has occupied a very important place in my life for several years, and I practice more precisely pony games. This sport taught me the importance of team spirit, respect for others, but also perseverance and emotional management. Apart from horseback riding, I like to stay active by going to the gym every day. Badminton is also part of my hobbies I go there during school holidays, because I appreciate its both sporty and friendly side. On a personal level, I would describe myself as a sociable, open-minded and courageous person. I like to meet others and discover new horizons. Changes do not scare me, on the contrary, they stimulate me and allow me to grow. I am a flexible person, able to adapt to different situations, which seems essential to me for a successful experience abroad. I also attach great importance to respect, politeness and listening to others. I come from a very close-kended family, where mutual aid and communication are essential. There are four of us: my father, my mother, my big brother, who is two years older than me, and me. We share many moments together and we support each other. I also have many cousins with whom I am very close, which taught me from an early age the importance of family ties. I love animals very much and I currently live with a cat and a dog, which are an integral part of our daily lives. My school life in France is going very well. I like to learn and I am curious to discover new subjects. I get along easily with my classmates and I am lucky to have many friends. My teachers are benevolent and attentive, which makes the school setting reassuring and motivating. I am a serious, rigorous and invested student, who does her best to progress and give the best of herself. With my French friends, I love sharing good times, going out with them, doing different activities such as going to the ice rink, bowling or just walking. My motivations for this year in the United States are many. Of course, I want to improve my English and gain fluency in speaking, but above all to discover American culture, its lifestyle, traditions and school system. I would like to fully integrate into your family, participate in daily life, help when necessary and share French culture with you, whether through language, traditions or cuisine. Regarding my integration into my future high school, I want to be an involved, respectful and curious student. As an exchange student, I would like to bring an international opening and share my experience with other students. I want to be a true ambassador of my country and contribute to cultural exchanges within the community, while learning a lot about your culture. Finally, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing me and for offering me this exceptional chance to live my dream. Your welcome and hospitality mean a lot to me. I look forward to meeting you, creating memories with you and sharing this unforgettable experience with you. With all my gratitude and enthusiasm, Lena, your future exchange student
