Ilan
's Letter
Dear family,
My name is Ilan and I live in Spain, with my parents, my 19-year-old sister, and my golden retriever, Samba. I love spending time with her because I love all kinds of animals.
What I like most about going to school is spending time with my friends, and my favorite subject is physical education. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends and doing different fun activities and plans, such as playing all kinds of games, playing sports, visiting new places, and cooking with them, which, although I don't do it often, I'm good at. I also really like watching movies and series with my family.
I consider myself a very sociable, fun, and cheerful person, and I like trying new activities.
I'm very excited about this opportunity because it's something I've wanted to do since I was little, and when my sister did it, I became even more eager to do it myself.
I lived in Florida for a year with my family while I was in elementary school, and ever since, I've wanted to go back because I fell in love with American customs.
The person who has most influenced me to want to do this is my grandfather. He's American and played basketball in the NBA. Then he came to Spain to play for Real Madrid, where he met my grandmother and decided to stay. He's always told me stories about when he was little and lived in the United States, and he's always encouraged me to do this, just like my uncles did when they were younger.
I love playing sports. I've always played basketball, except for the last two years when I've been more focused on rugby, and I play on my hometown team. What I like most about the team is when we travel to play against teams from other cities in Spain. I also like to play and watch soccer since it's the most important sport in my country. I have no problem learning new sports.
So, having said all that, I would love to leave and be able to live with a family, learn about their culture, have new experiences, meet new people and above all, leave the United States and be able to say that I have a second family., Ilan Luyk.
