Dear Host Family,
Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself and share my motivation for applying to this exchange program. I would be truly honored to be considered for this experience, which I believe will be very meaningful for my personal and academic growth.
My name is L., I am 16 years old and will soon turn 17. I consider myself an easygoing and adaptable person. I am not demanding, and I try to welcome new opportunities with a positive attitude. I usually look on the bright side of situations and face challenges with determination.
I enjoy school and spending time with my classmates. I have many friends, and we often meet in the afternoons to study or simply be together. My school requires a lot of effort, but I chose it because it helps me grow both academically and personally.
I have already visited the United States through a one‑month exchange program in New Hampshire, during which I also visited Boston. I developed a strong bond with my host family, and even though the exchange was short, we are still in contact. They will even visit us in Italy this summer. That experience encouraged me to apply for a full exchange year, and I am confident it will greatly improve my English and broaden my cultural perspective.
Sports are an important part of my life. I would love to try American football, and if possible, continue training in volleyball as I do in Italy. Volleyball is my greatest passion: this year I am the captain of my team, and we are achieving excellent results, with the possibility of reaching the national championship.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors and taking part in group activities. I like staying active and keeping myself busy with meaningful and enjoyable things, as it helps me stay motivated and open‑minded.
I have one younger brother and one younger sister. We have a strong and loving relationship, and we always support each other, whether it is studying or helping at home. My parents are quite strict, but I understand that they want to teach me responsibility and independence. We have a great relationship and often spend time together on weekends and holidays.
On a typical day, I wake up at 6:30 a.m., have breakfast, and go to school, which starts at 7:55 a.m. I have five one‑hour classes with a short break in between. School ends at 12:55 p.m., after which I go home for lunch and rest briefly. Around 2:30 p.m., I start studying. At 6:00 p.m., I get ready for volleyball practice, which lasts about three hours. When I return home, I have dinner, take a shower, and go to bed around 10:30 p.m.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I sincerely hope you will consider my application.
L.
