Dear host family, My name is Thura, and I am a Dutch girl. My dream is to do a highschool exchange year and this dream might finally come true. That's also why I thank you that you are willing to let me live with your family and making my dream come true. The reasons why I want to do an exchange year are that I want to learn the culture, experience the American highschool, try different foods, do lots of fun family activities with my host Family, but most of all, I want do develop myself and become more independent. But I will explain in more detail why I would love to do an exchange year. Something about me is that I really LOVE to travel and I want to explore the world. I wanna learn about a lot of different cultures, including the American culture. I have been to a couple of countries, but I want to see so much more. I also really love to dance and sing. I am basically dancing my whole life and I really enjoy it. My favorite artist is Billie Eilish, because I think she has a beautiful voice and she really puts emotion in her songs. Family and friends are REALLY important to me and I love family activities, but mostly the small ones like game nights. I have a younger brother and an older brother and we may not always agree on everything, but I love them. Something really important about me is that I am a social person and I love being around people. But I also like to have some me-time at the end of the day. Here are the reasons in detail why I want to do an American highschool exchange year. First of all I want to experience all the American holidays and special events. For example Thanksgiving or prom. I just want to know what it feels like to go to a real American prom and have a family dinner at Thanksgiving. This might sound weird (but that's okay because I am a little weird), but I would love to go to Target or Walmart with you. I just want to walk in there and see the big store and I just can't explain why. The American schoolbus is something that seems so fun to me, because in the Netherlands I always have to go to school on my bike in the wind, luckily I have parents that sometimes want to bring me, but that is something that I also would love to experience. The different class subjects are also a really big reason for me to do this exchange year, because there are a lot of classes that I can't follow in the Netherlands, like theatre or criminoligy. And lastly I would love to try different foods, for example, Raisin Canes, Taco Bell or Chipotle. But not to forget, all the foods that you love, I would love to try. And I would like to have host siblings and pets, but if not that's okay aswell. In the future I see myself as a manager in the hospitality world, or doing something with travel. I think I would be perfect in the hospitality world, because I love helping people and working with people. Let me explain it a little better. The hospitality world technically means in a hotel or restaurant or stuff like that. Cause how cool would it be if I was the manager of a hotel?! But I have also been thinking about becoming a travel agent or doing something else with travel. Like planning trips for people and telling them the perfect spots to go.
