Gloria
's Letter
Dear future host family,
First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for being part of such an amazing program. Thank you for giving me the chance to stay in your family for a whole school year.
To be honest, I donāt really know where to start, thereās so much to say about me and my life. But I guess Iāll tell you a bit about a normal school week:
Monday: My alarm goes off at 7am but strangely I always wake up half an hour later. I have school till 1pm and after school I have to get ready for tennis fast cause itās only 1.30hours later. After tennis I have free time, but I always use it to weather study, watch Netflix or go to the gym.
Tuesday: Again school till 1pm and directly after school I got dance class. Iām not that long into that dance class,(danced when I was little a while) but I love the way weāre always dancing a new style like one time hiphop the other contemporary dance.
Wednesday: again school till 1pm, after school I donāt have much free time do do anything special but eating and learning my piano peaces for piano lesson.
Thursday: a really tough day- have school till 5pm. Mostly after school that day I just take a nap, watch Netflix or Iāve Iām still powered I go to the gym or take a run.
Finally friday: school till 1pm but I give tutoring so Iām at school till 2:30pm. After school Iām often doing some sports, either gym or running or other sport activities. Sometimes Iām going to the kart track with my dad and brother but always depends. In winter I almost go everyday skiing (and to be honest- thereās no better activity you can do in winter).
So, thatās a very normal school week for me, sounds a bit boring but Iām glad it doesnāt look like this all year round. For example some family traditions which I always look forward to, like eating every first Sunday on the month āWeiĆwurstā for breakfast, a typical Bavarian sausage.
But now more about me:
Even though I'm a late sleeper and like to just lie in bed sometimes, I LOVE sports more than anything. Just the feeling of forgetting everything around you and just concentrating on what youāre doing and always getting better, canāt even describe it.
I've tried almost every sport in my life, even if only for a month or two.
And I love trying new things whether sports or just other activities like sky diving, run a marathon or bungee jumping. And especially, traveling the whole world.
But Iām not just the adventures Gloria, but also a overthinker which often makes it difficult for me to make important decisions. But for that I always have my family and friends by my side and supporting me. Growing up in a family with 3 children can often be hard, but I teaches you, that youāll never be alone. Even when me and my siblings have a huge dispute, 5minutes later itās forgotten again.
I asked my friends if they could tell me one thing that has stuck in their minds as a shared memory, or how they see me and how they got to know me. And these were their answers:
Amanda(best friend): whenever weāre at McDonalds she canāt live without her vanilla milkshake and that apple bag. Since 2024 sheās always singing āgirl on fireā out of nowhere. Sheās also diverse, kind and a very good friend.
Magdalena(childhood friend): Gloria is an attentive and friendly person. Cares about her siblings and has a great sense of humor, thereās always something to laugh about.
Flora(choir friends):Gloria, a bright and lively girl, is always up for anything! Easily enthusiastic and full of life, she's always in the thick of things, trying new things, and also has a thoughtful and quiet side.
Sophia (tutorā>very good friend):Gloria is someone who loves trying new things, whether it's in music with singing and playing the piano, in sports with gymnastics, dancing, and tennis, or something completely different like go-karting. She embraces every new challenge, is easily enthusiastic, and always gives it her all.
Ana-B(choir friend): I would describe Gloria as a very cheerful girl. Last year, we performed in a school musical together, and thatās how I got to know her. Gloria is a few years younger than me. When I was her age, I wouldnāt have had the confidence to walk up to older students and casually start a conversation, but she did, and we all got along really well. Last summer, when I left school, she wrote me a heartfelt letter that I will always treasure. All in all, Gloria truly is a ray of sunshine.
There is so much more to tell, but I canāt wait to share it all with you soon.
And yes, I'm incredibly scared, but there's still so much to experience out there, and I can't wait to meet you and share this new chapter with you, and then later tell my family and friends about it.
See you soon, Gloria!
