Dear host family, Hi! My name is Carla I´m 14 years old, and I will turn 15 the 7 of September of 2026. I live in the capital of Spain, Madrid. I don't live in central Madrid, but in a neighborhood to the east. My neighborhood doesn't have many things to do, so I usually go downtown with my friends or family to check out the shops or just take a walk. Although I say that my neighborhood is boring, to me it has its charm; it's impossible to go out and not run into someone you know, and for me, that's really nice. In my family we are 4, my older brother, Jose, my mom, Alicia, and my dad, Jose. My mom is a distribution manager in a publishing company, my dad is retired and my brother is doing a professional training in civil protection and safety to become a firefighter. I do some plans with them like, going to the cinema, go shopping, seeing programs, or just talk in the dinner. I´m in 9th grade, that in Spain is called 3º ESO. My favourite subject is english and music. My school is from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. so when I came to home from the school I take a snack and at 6p.m I start to study. My studying routine depends in how much I have to study that day. In the week of exams I study from 6 p.m to 21.30 p.m, depending in how I do the exam. And when I´m not in the week of exams I study from 6 p.m to 7.:30 p.m and some days I go out with my friends. The things I enjoy doing most in my free time are dancing; I have been dancing since I was 5 years old. I have done ballet, flamenco, rhythmic gymnastics, and modern dance, but last December I quit, and now I no longer dance. I also like watching movies and series, cooking, reading, spending time with my friends, fashion, shopping... etc. Well, I believe that my qualities are that I am very responsible, I always try to think before doing anything. Another of my qualities is that I am very empathetic; whenever I see that someone is having a hard time or needs to talk, I try to help them and let them know they can talk to me. I am also very talkative once I get comfortable; at first it’s hard for me, but not too much. I’m also honest, I don’t like to lie about important things. My friends describe me as a very cheerful and funny person, and from my point of view, I am a very focused and organized person with a clear mind and thousands of goals and dreams to achieve. If we focus on my personality, I could say that people describe me as a very generous person who is willing to help others. I like making people laugh, but I also like it when they make me laugh. I want to live this experience because I think it will help me grow as a person and become more independent. Also, because I feel that my life is like a routine that never changes, and I think that has to change. I would also like to learn the culture and customs of another country. Going on an exchange has always been my dream since I was little. I have chosen this country because I think it is the most different from Spain, with its traditions, school, customs, and many other things. I believe that I could bring charisma, a positive atmosphere, and I will be very helpful with household chores. I am very responsible with my studies, so I will not be a burden in that regard. Last but not least, I would like to thank you for your hospitality in opening the doors of your home to me and making me feel like a member of it.
