's Letter
Dear host family,
My name is Carla, and I am very excited to introduce myself to you. I am very excited to participate in this exchange program. Well, I'm going to tell you a little bit about myself.
I live with my mother, father, and older brother in a small town in the mountains. We are a close-knit family, and thanks to them, I have the confidence and desire to live this special experience. I really enjoy spending time with my family, we often share meals together, talk about our day, and support each other in everything we do. They have taught me the importance of kindness, responsibility, and being positive every day, which makes me feel ready for this new adventure.
My daily life is usually quite simple: I go to school, come home for lunch, do my homework, and then I usually go to my extracurricular activity, that is ballet or English. I would describe myself as sociable, talkative, curious, and humorous. At school, I try to be responsible and organized; I study for my exams in advance and strive to maintain a good routine. I like to learn new things and improve in every subject.
When I'm not in class, I like to enjoy my free time doing things that I love. I really like reading, listening to music, and singing. I always do almost everything with music in the background, and I love concerts. My favorite singers are Quevedo, Mora, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, and the classics Adele and Ed Sheeran. I'm not really into sports, but I try to go running on the weekends to stay active. What I do like is playing sports with my friends, as long as it's fun and doesn't turn into a competition and we get mad at each other. I also really like surfing, although where I live there's no beach, so I can only do it when I get the chance. In general, I enjoy good weather and warm temperatures more, although I also love snow and the winter atmosphere, especially at Christmas.
One of the many things I am excited about is joining the cheerleading team at high school, because I think it's fun, dynamic, and a great way to meet new people and get involved in school. I am very excited to be able to watch the football games and cheer them on from the team. I would also like to participate in other school clubs or activities, such as the drama club or a singing group, as I love getting involved and meeting people with different interests.
Honestly, I can't express how excited I am to participate in this program. The opportunity to learn English, learn about new customs, and truly discover what life is like there means so much to me. Traveling is something that fascinates me, and I am sure that this experience will help me grow, become more independent, mature, and open my mind. I chose the United States because, although I have seen it a thousand times in movies, I want to know the reality, how people really live, and stop idealizing it to discover it as it is.
Thank you so much for opening the doors of your home to me. I greatly appreciate your hospitality and I look forward to meeting you, learning from you, and sharing a little bit of my culture as well.
With gratitude,
Carla
