Dear Host Family, My name is Jose and I am very interested in staying in the United States. I am really exited to learn about your culture and the way you live. I have always wanted to have this kind of experience, especially in the USA, because of its culture and traditions for example, celebrations like thanksgiving or Halloween. Even though Halloween is celebrated in my country, it is not on the same scale as in the United States. In general I feel that celebrations in the USA are bigger and more special. Last year I did a short exchange on France where I stayed on a host family for one week. and I absolutely love the experience. I followed all their traditions, connected very well with the family, and felt fully integrated even in such a short time. That experience made me realize that living with a host family is the best way to truly understand a culture and mostly to feel at home in another country. I am an active person and I like to always have things to do. Currently, I am not practicing any Sports besides going to the gym, but I also enjoy going running with friends or family. I am very open to joining any sport or extracurricular activities. At my school, I am a part of the debate club, and I used to be in the communication club, so I would also be interested in joining similar activities or trying new ones. My friends describe me as an outgoing person, although when I fell uncomfortable, I sometimes lose a bit of confidence. I can also be nervous, but I think that in a positive way, I like staying active and doing things, while also having time to rest and relax. I do not really like being alone, so even at home I enjoy spending time with my family, whether it is eating together, playing board games, or watching movies. My family is very close so we are used to meet on weekends and do that kind of stuff. I hope to be able to do the same with my host family. One of the things I enjoyed the most is going out with my friends, no matter what we do. In summer I live in a town next to the beach so my favorite plan is going to the beach with my friends until the sun sets and then go to a place to have dinner. The town is small so we can go walking to every place and also it tends to be full so there is a lot of nightlife. However, during school week I cannot hang out very often because I finish school at five o’clock and need to study and do my homework, so I usually go out only on weekends when I have school. I love food and trying new dishes, although I am a very bad cook, I always end up burning the food, even thought I actually enjoy cooking. I also do many activities with my family such as traveling, which we all love, especially me, because I enjoy visiting new places. Every weekend we try to go out to a restaurant to eat, and that is one of my favorite moments of the week. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter.
