Dear Host Family, My name is Clara and I’ve been wanting to do an exchange year since I was 11, my brother told me about it and ever since it’s been a dream of mine to experience the American high school life, getting to know new people, trying out a new sport, learning about the American culture in general and so much more! I‘d describe myself as a funny and open person but I also like to talk about serious topics and be there for people if they need my help. I’m not afraid to stand up for myself or other people if I feel like someone is not behaving respectful. And I absolutely dislike people that make fun of others for no reason. I’m always open to getting to know new people and if I feel comfortable I definitely joke around a lot and show you a lot of myself as a person. One of my favorite things to do is definitely going to concerts. I love music and singing along with so many people that also relate to the songs. When I see that one of my favorite artists is going on tour I don’t hesitate long and always buy a ticket. I love to read and my favorite genre is romance. What I love about reading is that you can feel so many emotions and create your own image/world in your head even tho they’re only words on paper. I also love to travel and getting to know knew places and countries. My two favorite destinations I’ve been to are NYC and Ibiza! I love cities and seeing big buildings, a lot of people, many shops and places to eat. But spending time on an island and having a summer vacation is also very fun! My favorite things to do when I’m on vacation are swimming, tanning, reading a book by the pool/beach and just relax. When I grow up I wanna be a flight attendant. Maybe not my whole life but it’s definitely something I’m interested in. I love traveling, flying, planes and hopefully help some people with fear of flying. I also like working out and going to the gym, most of the time I go with my brother I think it’s more fun when you have someone with you. I really enjoy cooking and baking for my family, once a week my brother comes over and we all cook and eat together. On the weekends I like to go to my grandparents and spend time with them. I grew up being really close to them so it’s really important to me to keep that bond. I of course love spending time with my friends. Whenever I’m with them I feel like I can be myself the most. I have 3 close friends. One of them I know since my childhood, our grandparents live right beside each other and I spend most of my childhood with her. And my other two friends I know from school and it’s really nice to have such close friends there which makes school definitely enjoyable. When I meet up with my friends most of the time it’s to go eat and just talk and laugh. Or we go shopping even tho I don’t enjoy shopping that much or watch a movie. When I’m with my mother we like to go out for breakfast we have one Café we always go to, and when we’re at home we paint together or play some games or watch a movie. Horror movies are my favorite but she’s not really into it so most of the time we end up with any type of romcom. And with my stepfather I always watch soccer it’s nice cause we share the same interest and to talk about it. Or we drive in the car and listen to some music which is one of my favorite things to do.
