Noam
's Letter
Dear Host Family,
My name is Noam, I am 16 years old, and I am from France. I am writing this letter because I have always dreamed of living in your country for a year. I am a curious person, passionate about basketball and motorsports, and I would love to discover what it’s like to live as an American teenager. I am convinced that, besides being a culturally enriching experience, this trip will also be very useful for my studies and my future professional life.
I have skipped a grade, so I am currently in my senior year of high school. My main subjects are math and physics/chemistry, and I also take advanced math as an elective. I’ve always been the kind of student who managed to get good grades without studying too much. This year, I’ve been putting in a lot of effort so that I can choose the studies I really want to pursue. I don’t know exactly what career I want yet, but I do know that I want a job that is useful to society and that also allows me to live comfortably.
Outside of school, sports play a big part in my life, especially basketball. I’m a very social person who loves hanging out with friends and taking part in all kinds of activities. I play basketball in a club and regularly take part in games and tournaments. On weekends, I enjoy watching Formula 1 and other kinds of racing events. I’m a big supporter of Charles Leclerc and a huge Ferrari fan, both for their racing cars and their more “classic” road cars. I think Ferrari has a history and a prestige that no other brand can match.
In my free time, I also like playing racing simulators. What I love most about it isn’t just driving, but the technical side, adjusting every detail of the car’s setup to make it as fast and efficient as possible. Even if this might sound like a small detail, I think it actually represents me very well: I love to learn and understand new things on my own, and that gives me a real sense of accomplishment.
I truly believe that, as the word “exchange” suggests, I can bring you as much as you will bring me. I’m a very open-minded person, and I love talking with people who are different from me, learning about their worldview and the way they think. I’m sure that you and I will be able to learn a lot from each other, and that this will help us share a pleasant and enriching year together.
To sum up my personality after writing all this, I would say that I’m a passionate, kind, respectful, polite, and funny person, and that I love learning new things, especially when it’s about something that really interests me. However, I can sometimes be a bit talkative, which I don’t see as a terrible flaw, it’s also what makes me a very social person.
I would like to thank my future host family for your hospitality, your kindness, and everything you will bring me during my stay.
Sincerely,
Noam
