Dear Host Family, My name is Moritz. I have a mother, Katja, who is 54, a father, Thomas, who is 55, and two sisters: Ella, who is 20, and Frieda, who is 19. Ella is currently studying Fashion Management in Hamburg, and Frieda finished school last year and now wants to start traveling. My family is very important to me because we are very close. We always support each other no matter what, and we can talk about anything honestly within the family. I live in a small village in the Black Forest. I really like it here, especially the nature and the food. My friends live nearby, but sometimes it gets a bit boring because our village is so small that we don’t even have a supermarket. That can be annoying sometimes, but it’s not a big problem. My school is in a neighboring village, which I can easily reach by bus or bike. I see my friends there, and my favorite subject is sports. Besides school, I am also working on my motorcycle and car driving licenses, which I really enjoy. One of my favorite things is eating. My mother often cooks, and I always try her food. If I don’t like something, I tell her. When my family goes on vacation, we also like trying local food. The last time I did this was in Japan, where I tried sea urchin. It was interesting, but I didn’t like it very much. What I love about food is that it gives new experiences and lets you connect with the people you eat with. My favorite dish is Rouladen, a traditional German meal where vegetables are wrapped in bacon. In my free time, I play football for my village club, where many of my friends also play. I also play basketball, often with one of my best friends, either at school or in my free time in the garden or on the court. I also enjoy meeting friends to hang out, talk, or eat something. Having friends is very important to me because I like being around people. My father has traveled a lot with us since we were little, and I really enjoy traveling too. It’s a great way to learn new things and spend time with family. I have been to many countries, including the USA, Japan, Taiwan, Morocco, and almost all of Europe.
