Hi, I’m Pietro.
Thank you for hosting me during my journey, I am really grateful to you, this is one of my biggest dreams! Since I was a kid I hoped this could become true, and now this is happening! I hope i will learn a lot from you, and maybe you will learn something from me. I hope we will build a bond and enjoy the time spent together. I have many goals for this year: learning how to relate with people with a different culture than mine, making new friendships and trying to feel at home far away from Italy.
I am an emotional person; this is what my friends and my family always tell me. I love talking to people about how they feel, and for this reason, after finishing school, I would like to study to become a psychologist. I also like sports, I have played rugby for 7 years. My brother passed this passion on to me, and I will thank him forever for that. I think sport isn’t just physical activity, but also the best way to bring people together and get to know each other.
I like to express my opinion and to share my thoughts, so staying in a place with a different language might be a challenge, but I think that the best way to get over something is to face it, so i can’t wait to come to the USA and meet a lot of people and to learn how to interact with you. I listen to a lot of Italian music, and English music too, and I’m learning how to cook with the help of my mum. I really enjoy spending time with her.
I have 2 brothers, Matteo and Tommaso, and one sister, Alice. My biggest brother, Matteo, is 18 years old, and last year he did this same experience; he went to Hibbing, a small town in northern Minnesota. He told me a lot about his journey, and he made me realize how beautiful discovering new places is. My parents are Massimo and Paola, they have always been supportive of me, and they are supporting my choice to go to study abroad as well. I really like animals, I have 2 dogs, they are not very handsome, but i love them anyway.
In Italy I usually go to school in the morning, I like going to school, especially when there are subjects that i like, for example history or English. After school I go back home and have lunch, I usually eat with my brother and my sister, but I don’t have problems eating alone if it happens. Then I take a nap and after a while I start doing my homework, as soon as I finish it, I go to play soccer. In the evening I have dinner with my family and then I go to bed. During the weekend I usually hang out with my friends. I’m ready to have a different routine, because I am aware that I’m going to live in a different context, and I’m happy and curious to see what my life will be like there.
Thank you for reading my letter, I hope we will see each other soon, and I can’t wait to spend an amazing year together. Thank you for your hospitality.
Pietro
