Dear future host family, First of all, I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to realize my biggest dream: living in the United States for 10 months. You cannot imagine how happy and excited I am to begin this adventure with you. My name is Salomé and I live in France. To describe myself, I would say that at first I can be quite shy, but once I get to know someone, I become very talkative and sociable. My family and friends often say that I am calm, always smiling, cheerful, funny, generous, and caring in every situation. It is impossible for me to be mean or disrespectful because respect is a very important value to me. During my free time, I love watching movies at the cinema or even at home because it allows me to escape for a while and I enjoy being immersed in different stories. I also really like reading, especially after a long day at school since it is very relaxing. I mostly read romance, but I try to explore other genres of books. It is also essential for me to spend time with my family and friends because they are the most important people in my life. I have many friends with who I enjoy having chill evenings at each other’s homes. We often go shopping together because I love fashion and dressing well, and I would love to attend a Paris Fashion Week show one day since I adore that city. When the weather is nice, we often spend our afternoons at the beach because I live near the sea, or we simply eat together, usually sushi or poke bowls. With my family, we spend a lot of time together at home playing board games or talking during meals. We also travel a lot. Since I was young, we spend our summers discovering new places and cultures in France or elsewhere in Europe, and meeting new people. Every Saturday evening we have a tradition of eating dinner in front of the TV while talking about our week. My mother is named Sabrina. She is 42 years old and works as a neonatal intensive care nurse in a children’s hospital. My father is named Anthony. He is 47 years old and works as a quality manager in a company. My parents have been married for 14 years. I also have a 13-year-old little sister named Alix who is in middle school and very sporty because she practices horse riding and hip-hop dance. We are close because we share many moments together. I also enjoy seeing my maternal grandparents and my paternal grandmother who live close to my home.I am also very close to my uncles, aunts, and cousins even if they do not live nearby. We often get together to celebrate Christmas and birthdays. I also like listening to music like Lana Del Rey, The Weeknd, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, or CAS. During the summer I often go to music festivals, although I have not been to a concert in a while. Moreover, I often babysit during the day or in the evenings. I love taking care of children and they like me a lot too. It also allows me to earn some money, become more financially independent, and treat myself when I want to. I love animals as well. I have always lived with pets. Right now, I have a four-year-old dog named Smoothie, whom I love more than anything. He is an Australian Shepherd and I love spending time with him playing in our backyard or at the beach, and cuddling him. I also practiced horse riding for three years, so I love horses. At the moment, I am not doing any sports in a club because I do not have the time with school, although I try to go running sometimes with my father. I have practiced dance for several years, basketball, and horse riding. I also enjoy doing sports with my friends at school. I would also like to describe a typical school day for me. I am in a program where my main subjects are management, business administration, economics, and law, and I am in the European section, so I have more English than other students. In the morning, I wake up early because I have a long commute. I wake up at 5:30 am, get ready, and have breakfast, usually a yogurt bowl with orange juice. Then I take the school bus for one hour and start classes at 8 am. I have four hours of classes with a 15-minute break. During the 1 hour and 30-minute lunch break, I eat at the school cafeteria while talking with my friends. In the afternoon, my schedule varies. I can finish as early as 3:30 pm or as late as 5:30 pm. Sometimes I return home at 6:45 pm. I spend my evening doing homework and usually go to bed around 10 or 10:30 pm. During these 10 months with you, I wish to integrate into your family life as best as possible, to adapt to your habits, and to join in all the activities you enjoy doing. I am open to everything and ready to discover new things, as well as step outside my comfort zone. I would also love, if possible, to join the high school cheerleading team because it is something I have always dreamed about, although I would completely understand if that was not possible. I am incredibly happy and excited to join you and and become a part of your family and your life for these 10 months.
