's Letter

Hello, My name is Alessia and I’m from a city in the north of Italy. I’d like to start this letter by thanking the people who are reading this, the family that will choose me as their host daughter. I’ve always been excited of experiencing months abroad away from my native country, with new people in a completely new environment. My friends have always told me that I’m generous and kind, and that I’m patient. I try to be extremely cautious with my words and with how I treat others, because I consider myself to be empathetic and incredibly sensitive, but I do understand it’s not always easy to be so. My parents are really smart, caring and understanding and I’m immensely grateful for that. I’m also deeply thankful for all the sacrifices them and my grandparents have done and are still doing for me. I love my family because it’s a big family: I have plenty of cousins, aunts and uncles and I really enjoy my relationship with every single one of them. I love making my family and friends comfortable around people and with themselves, I get truly happy when I see people around me smiling and not feeling uncomfortable or out of place. My favorite hobby for five years has been pole fitness. In my opinion it’s a beautiful and graceful sport and that makes me feel good. I practice it twice a week, so I have plenty of time to practice other hobbies as well; if I don’t have much to study, of course. In my free time I love to listen to music, read my favorite books and knit. The things that I’ve always dreamt to do in my life are: becoming an actress and being an exchange student, especially in the U.S.A. Becoming an actress has been my dream for as long as I can remember. I’m unbelievably joyful knowing that I’ll be an exchange student, and that makes me feel lucky and happy. I’ve always wanted to go study abroad because I love the fact that I’ll be able to learn another culture from the inside, while meeting new people, trying new food, going on walks in places that I’m not familiar with, challenging myself and growing as a person. I know I’ll enjoy the new things I’ll do in USA, but I’m also aware of the fact that I will be homesick more than just once or twice, and that I’ll miss my friends, family, best friends and the girl that knows me better than myself. There are many experiences that shaped me into the girl that I am now, for example when I went in Dublin three years ago with my best friends for a study vacation for two weeks, it was magical. Also all the friendships I have helped me and are still helping me to grow emotionally because they are mature and always willing to help me. I would love to be able to see my friends every day, but that’s not possible because we all have many homework and much stuff to do during the day. Here in Italy my daily routine is pretty basic: I wake up, go to school, then go home, have lunch, study, do some exercise, have dinner, then go to sleep. I usually do some chores too and spend time with my family. What about your family time and daily routine? I can’t wait to find out in person! Thank you so much for reading my letter! I hope you appreciated reading it as much as I did writing it! Thank you for your time, consideration and attention, warm regards! -Alessia
