Hugo
's Letter
Dear Host Family,
First, I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to do this program, and to live for a year with you. I’m writing this letter to present myself, my environnement and my motivations.
My name is Hugo, and my dream is to spend one year in the United States, to go to school there, to share moments with you, my host family et to make connections.
I would like to go to the United States for a year, to discover the culture and the American life, and to improve my English as well.
I’m not used to stepping out of my comfort zone, and this experience might be a way for me to become more comfortable with it.
I also want to know how school is in the US, the differences between school here and in America, how the people are, and I hope that I can make some friends too !
In our house, every family member has to help with household chores and clean their room, which I would not fail to do with you, because it is something very important to me, since it will be an opportunity to share friendly moments, even more during a total immersion in a family.
If you’d like to, I would love to talk about French culture and history with you, and I love cooking so we could try cooking some French dishes, so that this stay is mutually benefical. I would also really enjoy to learn more on America history and culture.
In my free time, I like to be with my friends, to read books of intrigue and investigations, or to watch movies or series in English. I also do aquabike with my mother and we actually really love it.
I think that I’m a curious person, and I’ll always be interested by facts I didn’t know before.
At school, my favourite classes are the languages (English and German), history/geography (in France they are combined) and economic and social sciences, and later, I’d like to study international relations.
My family and I really like the USA. I went two weeks in Denver, CO, also in a host family, and I really loved the experience. My sister spent 1 year in Mexico, MO, and she went to school there. My brother spent two weeks as well in California. I also went to NYC a couple times, for Christmas - it was such a great experience to live an American Christmas, because we were hosted by residents - and for Halloween. We love to travel in France or around the world, to discover new landscapes and memories.
Thank you for reading this letter, and for the interest you will have in it
I hope to have the opportunity to do this program,
Sincerely, Hugo
