ELMA

's Letter

Dear host family, It's a pleasure to write to you and introduce myself, so that you can get to know me better. My name is Elma, I am 15 years old, and I've always wanted to experience an adventure as special as this one. Ever since I was little, I've dreamed about what it would be like to live with an American family, and I feel that little by little that dream is getting closer. Let me tell you a little bit about myself: I consider myself a responsible person, especially at school. I like to keep up with my homework and I am always on time for my classes. In class, I am usually quiet, but I participate when I have something meaningful to add. I prefer studying at my desk because is a quiet place where I can concentrate well. I share both my room and my desk with my older sister, so sometimes it's a bit tricky, but the desk is big enough for both os us. On the rare occasions when we both need to study at the same time, we take turns using our brother's room, so it works out fine. I'm a very organized person, and I like helping out at home. I always try to be respectful of rules and other people's space. In my free time, I love listening to music while I paint or do any kind of arts and crafts, which is one of my favorite things to do. I also enjoy going out with my friends every now and then. I love animals. My aunt has a dog, and we often look after him and takehim for walks. I like spending time with him because it makes me feel relaxed and happy, and I think living with pets teaches you a lot about commitment and affection. Another activity I really enjoy and look forward to throughout the year is the school musicals we organize. I audition with my friends, and the organizers decide who will play each role. There are five of us at home: my mom, my dad, my older sister, my little brother, and me. Our house is always full of laughter and the small things we do every day. We spent a lot of time together doing activities we love: hiking in the mountains, spend the day at the beach in the summer, visit nearby villages, or simply talking about our day over dinner. For me, family is the most important thing because they are always there for us, supporting us, listening to us, and encouraging us when things get difficult. There is no one better than them when you need help. One of the things my dad and I rally enjoy doing together is watching NFL games every Sunday in our living room, snuggled up with blankets and popcorn. We always have a great time and spend the afternoon together. Sometimes my mom and I sit in the living room and listen to music in English (which is our favourite) while I do crafts and she sews. My siblings and I are very close. We always make time to play board games, watch movies, go for walks around our neighborhood, and sometimes play soccer just because our little brother loves it. Even thoughit's not our favourite, we do it because it makes him happy. One of the things I'm most exited about in this experience is the opportunity to live with a host family and be part of their daily life. I don't just want to improve my English, but also truly understand what life is like in another country, the routines, traditions, typical foods, and the way a family shares its time. I'm really excited to become part of your home, learn from you, and also share things about myself and my country. I would love to take part in family activities, whether it's cooking together, going for walks, watching a movie, or simply talking in the evenings. I believe that these everyday moments are the ones we remember the most. Thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. Best wiches, Elma
