's Letter
Hello,
I’m really happy to be writing this letter to you , it makes a dream I’ve had for several years feel real! It’s a bit strange, because we don’t know each other yet, but also very exciting, because maybe soon we’ll get to share a part of our lives together.
My name is Alexandre, and I want to live a truly unique experience, discovering a new culture, a different way of life, and meeting new people.
If I had to describe myself in three words, I’d say I’m independent, athletic, and easy-going.
Independent, because that’s what my parents have always said about me. Ever since I was little, I’ve liked doing things on my own. When my parents built our house, they even put my room at the end of the hallway, saying I’d be just fine managing by myself! Last year, I left home to attend a boarding school with a sports program focused on soccer, and I really enjoyed that experience. It showed me that I can adapt easily to a new environment, even far from my family.
I’m also very athletic. Sports play a big part in my life — I train around ten hours a week in soccer, but I also love playing basketball at the local court or tennis with friends. Honestly, I’m interested in every sport! I especially enjoy basketball, baseball, and American football. When I visited my cousin in the U.S., I had such a fun evening watching a baseball game on TV while eating pizza — it was such a simple but joyful moment. That’s what I love about sports: sharing emotions, celebrating wins, and learning to support each other through defeats.
And I think I’m pretty easy-going. My parents say I’m usually in a good mood and never sulk — I think that’s true! I might seem a bit quiet at first, but once I feel comfortable, I open up easily. I have lots of friends — at school, in sports, and in my community. I’m also very close to my grandparents and cousins, and I love spending vacations with them.
At home, I like helping out and taking part in daily chores. I think it’s important to contribute and to live in a good atmosphere where people can talk openly. At school, I also try to be a good friend and someone others can rely on.
I’m really excited about discovering your country, your culture, and your way of life. I hope I’ll be able to bring my good energy, curiosity, and positivity to your family.
I also believe that this experience isn’t just an opportunity for me, but that it can be a great adventure for you as well. I’d love to share with you a bit of my French culture, our traditions, our food (especially the cheese!), our language, and our sense of humor. I really enjoy cooking, so I’d be happy to prepare some typical French dishes for you. I’d also love to teach you a few words in French, or simply show you what life is like in France, in my own way. And most of all, I’d like to prove that French people don’t complain all the time and aren’t pretentious! 😄 I hope I can bring a little French touch to your home — full of warmth, curiosity, and good vibes.
I can’t wait to meet you!
Alexandre
